Yep, I'd just do a mechanical resto and keep it OG…maybe a little spiffin' on some of the knick knacks…they're only original once.
Not sure about your radio, but since everything seems proper, I would hazard a guess that it is correct…wish I still had my original in my 62…I took it out and put a delete plate in and left the radio at the shop where I used to work..now Im using a later radio…. I also left behind my beauty rings and license plate frame…all original to the car

I've really been diggin' on Bahama Blue here lately. Nice lookin' car. I love the stickers. It reminds me of my old Sea Blue '64 I used to have. It's kinda hard to see the stickers but they're there.

Your engine should be a 1300 with an "F" on the block number. But, you seem to have an earlier carburetor and a VERY early distributor, probably from like a 25 or 36 horse engine. The air-cleaner is correct, though. It's possible the engine is earlier. ended up going with a new tank, by the time I had it boiled and spot welds for some pin holes it would have ran more...
New Braided line, Line through tunnel was blown out and checked it for any leaking... none found. fuel filter between Chassis and metal line to fuel pump.
Brakes are up next, added some DOT 3, but the brakes dont seem to do anything when pumped... so I will be ordering a new German MC from wolfsburg west, and new lines and hoses.

Nice lil project you got there. 1966 was such a good year. I always liked the chrome trim on the interior panels. They help makes it more unique. Another Beetle being saved. You fired it up on my 40th birthday. Congradulations. Its a keeper! _________________ aka Ken
