Just wanted to start a thread on the progress of my bus. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated, as this is my first attempt at body work.

I know I have posted some of these pics before in other threads, but I really wanted to compile a thread depicting the "voyage" of the restoration.

Here it is right after yarding it out of the field.

Left rear corner repair. This is my very 1st attempt at body work, and welding sheet metal! After turning off the "autoset" feature on my Millermatic 180 and dialing in the welder manually I was able to get the hang of it.

Thanks. Im having a lot of fun and learning a ton!!

A little more progress on the from nose.

Did some more work with the stud welder and slide hammer. It looks pretty good. The dent on the right side of the lower nose wont come out any better. It's not too bad and it actually looks worse in the picture. Better than when I started.

Tried pulling out the dents and straightening the lower front nose skin (part behind the bumper). Wasnt happening! Sad

Decided to replace it. Removed only what I thought I needed to.

Sorry about the "double posting". I forgot I had started this progress thread. I will keep the additional updates here.

The rocker removed:

There is some surface rust on the inner rocker as you can see. However, it is very solid and I am going to hit it with the sand blaster.

I was able to straighten out the outer edge of the floor, leaving the lip of course! (see the last couple pics). However, if you check out the first couple pics you will notice that it isn't in the best shape. (rust damage). Not bad. What do you think. Should it be replaced?

Great work!!!
Please do post the images on this website. Seen too many old posts where the photobucket images have disappeared, leaving a post that is hard to follow without images.

Shocked , I didn't know that was possible. Really amazing job on that spear, that gouge looked almost like it was a cut.

All you used was a body hammer to accomplish that?

Split, to be honest, I didn't know it was possible!! Smile I figured the worst I could do was screw it up.

I still have a little more work I want to do to it to see if I can get it more straight. Probably sand it using a block to take out some waves. Maybe someone that has done it before has some advice?

I started by putting it into a vice between two 2x4's. That took out most of the bend. It wasn't actually "cut", but had a huge gouge. After working from the back with the body hammer and pushing some of it out, I had to grind it down.
