Alot of crap on e-bay... but some gems if you know what your looking for.

I bought several nice Sharpe guns( one Cobalt, 2 Titaniums and one Platinum) recently and got some killer deals.

I'll PM you some tips of what to look for.

where do you use those paint gun? do you have a special place to do it or do you do it in your garage?

my dad had his car painted by someone in a garage, but was a huge garage, and really clean...

i'D definately like to paint mine myself once i'm done cleaning all the top windows (white has been really poorly painted), but not sure i want a so-so job with lots of mistake (like spraying paint on dirt)

not unless its windy. if i spray outside, its usually just for priming or for painting parts.

okay, i see...

cause i need to redo my upper part of my bus, been painted with a brush and look really bad... and since i need to redo all the windows and most likely fix a few hole, i guess that would be a good idea to pain it while i'm there...

but definately not gonna pay someone to do it

I will be painting in my garage, I will have plastic over everything and water on the floor. I painted my 59 vert last winter and it turned out great!!! I am now working on my 71 Ghia.
Here is the website for a local supplier where I have been getting my parts. http://smartshoppersinc.com/ Take a look at the paint guns and prices and give me some advice!!
I was thinking of painting the dash and doorseals and inside the front trunck first, then painting the rest of the car the next day.
Thanks
Paul

Yes I painted the car in my Garage. I made a "Booth" from plastic and watered down the floor under the car. I painted in December so bugs were not a real problem. It had some orange peel in the paint but after wetsanding and buffing it looks fantastic. I even took first place in our local VW show.

I listed the ones I recently bought in the second post.

Sata is king but you will pay for that Royaly too... worth it if your pro and spraying every day I'm sure...
Iwata is a good imitation of the Sata
Sharpe is still a damn good gun and I have had many years of success with them ( conventional) and now have 5 HVLP's to start messing with.

as I said some great deals can be had on e-bay if you look hard and get lucky... I got that platinum model for 80 bucks and was the only bidder!
and it is BRAND SPANKING NEW...no bs...
Some pawn shops in CA seem to have the sharpe guns listed all most all the time. I've bought all these guns and 2 are new, and the other 3 are just barely used. And for barely the cost of what one would be new retail.

Why spend 60 or so on an astro or other cheapo knockoff when you can get something as nice as a sharpe for not much more?

When you shop on eBay, just ignore all the ones that offer a "Buy It Now." They are all new with new prices. Look for brand names and older models. You can get a top quality gun for not a lot of money. I've bought a couple really cheap because they looked ugly in the picture. An hour and a can of lacquer thinner and they've been good guns. If you are vigilant and have some patience, eBay is a good source.
Gee, I almost feel I overpaid for my Platnium. I had to give $95.
For those of you who don't know, Sharpe sold exclusive rights for that model to Snap-On and it is about $500 in their tool book.
