I ordered mine on Oct. 30th 2011 for my 63 Notch and it came today Nov 15th. I used the website and a credit card. It was about $70 US. Some have asked if it is worth the cost. This depends on how serious you are about the history of your car. I found it worth the cost.

$70? Holy cow! I remember when they were free.
I wonder how many times they run a certificate for the same car, as it gets traded around. _________________ -Thom

I'm still not sure it's worth it. Mine was far from correct. _________________ I don't mind eccentric people i just don't care for shit heads.

I've thought about that. I want to send for it but it almost seems a gamble. _________________ 1973 Super Beetle l 1981 Trans Am |

| To be honest I dont think it is worth it. I know the history of my car very well. I just wanted one because I thought it would be cool to have. When I got it in the mail and opened it to see that they claim the color was polar silver when I know for a fact it was Agave. I think if they dont know, a random color gets picked or they say not specified. I think it depends on who they send to look it up. The day they did mine it was handed off to the lazy kid that didnt feel like looking through all the microfiche, so he just wrote something down. |

If it's wrong, my understanding is you can email them for a correction. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

I had received a birth certificate back in 06 and then another one to confirm just last year.
Both certificates state the following:
Chassi number 20-207193
Model 224 VW Microbus (Eight seater)
Loading doors left, right hand drive
Engine number is not available
Colour Sand Green with colour code L311
Roof Palm Green with colour code L312
Upholstery Lind Green
Produced 17 October 1956
Delivered on 28 October 1956
Options M008 cannot be identified
M018 cannot be identified
M108 camping equipment Westfalia
M113 hinged windscreen "Safari"
M114 six hinged windows (opening side
windows
This would be so awesome if all this were true because my bus is actually a LHD panel!!! This is the reason I requested a second one as when I saw it the first time, I knew it was wrong. I personally think it's better to go by your vehicles history rather than actually trusting someone to take the time to research the information. Waist of money in my opinion. |

Maybe they just referenced what they had pulled up before instead of looking into it all over again. _________________ 1973 Super Beetle l 1981 Trans Am |

Here's mine:
Now I have searched high and low for M401 cannot be identified. It's not among the M codes for type 1s but I found it in the Vanagon forum as 'alumunium wheels'. Can't be right.
Does anyone know what M 401 is???
Also what does 48 DIN PS mean? _________________ 1971 1302 1600 DP Super Beetle

I do not know, although it might be better to ask in the Late Model Beetle Forum.
48 DIN PS is the European equivalent to the horsepower rating _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

Right, thank you. I saw some 70's german vw magazines with reviews of the '59 PS' 1302 super beetle, but i thought my 48 ps was the most powerful stock beetle ever made!! What does 48 ps translate into horsepower? _________________ 1971 1302 1600 DP Super Beetle

What they used to look like. Hand-typed on onionskin parchment. Hand signed. And they were free.

|
|
All,
Did my 1973 Super Beetle birth certificate and it was 50 Euro which after bank fee and conversion came to $67.03 US.
Ordered on Feb 25th and Arrive by March 10th (two weeks).
Found out some useful information about my super beetle (original engine, paint color code and upholestry) but I wish some of the M Codes descriptions were more available.
M 002 US Equipment (Unknown)
M 290 - I believe are mud flaps
M 698 - ?
M 699 - cannot be identified
Anyone have a idea what the M698 Code could be?
The car was built in late October of 72 (73 model yr).
Also there is mention of wheel rim and wheel disc L91 Chrome Colour I am trying for fully understand. Any ideas?
The vehicle still displays today the original Kansas Beige paint with Leatherette Beige interior. Not to mention the era correct 8 track radio.
The car is in process of full restoration - from ground\pan up - keeping original wherever possible.
Thanks,
Chris
