I'm still waiting for this to happen. At least they don't get a bunch of holes drilled in them. Wink

So step up to the plate and show everyone how it's done by making upper and lower dash pads for Type 34s.

That's already been done. I had a repro dashpad on my type 34 and Scott Taylor bought one of the last I have seen for sale at the Classic two years ago. But unfortunately no one else is doing it again. I wonder what happened to those molds?

Tim Dapper was the one who had those Type 34 dashes made in the late '80s. He sacrificed a perfect original dash to have the mold made. But I think he had a falling out with the manufacturer and anyway it was about 25 years ago so those molds are probably long gone. I bought one from Tim back when they were new and picked up another one recently from Tim's parts hoard, as Martin mentioned.

The upper pads will fit all Type 34s, since the only change over the years was the number of mounting studs (from 8 to 6 and eventually to 4). A repro of the lower dash pad would be a trickier proposition, since there were five different versions:

early '62 (through approx. 0 042 000)
late '62 through '67 LHD
'64 through '67 RHD
'68-'69 LHD
'68-'69 RHD

(technically 9 versions if you count the LHD and RHD pigalle and teak dashes)

Since no one mentioned it, the Dapper upper dashes were very nice but not perfect matches to originals.

I would take one over nothing in a second but an original is best, which I why I am hoarding a nice original even when I don't have a Type 34.

Hi guys, just heard the next batch of dash covers have landed in the USA, will the guys please post photos of their installed dash's on this thread.

May I just say that when you order, a lot of you have become frustrated with surface mail, one guy has been waiting nearly 12 weeks for his delivery to Indonesia.

But with airmail and insurance it only takes approx. 1 to 2 weeks.

Thanks

Herman
