Has anyone tried to match 'Marina Blue'?
What about these? I haven't tried them yet.
Rustoleum 7722830 Harbor Blue - seems close to Olympic Blue
Krylon 53529 Satin Catalina Mist - seems closer to Marain Blue _________________ 1973 Super Beetle l 1981 Trans Am |

Plasti-kote paint make a touch up spray paint they call "VW Baby Blue", it matches marina blue really good. it only comes in the little 5-6 oz cans though. _________________ Jesus Saves

I can attest that I am reasonably satisfied with the match of Krylon's Bahama Sea to Neptune Blue (L50K), which is a color used on bay window buses, like my '78 double cab. The Bahama Sea is a bit light, but close enough for touching up on this working truck that already has many shades of blue on it.
The full name is:

Just emailed and called krylon about satin jade only being available in satin. Not enough demand for it but with emails like yours maybe it will be! Also on the clear coat yellowing in a year, they wanted to know which clear did that.....requested pictures too, as they have many types of clear coats available.
Love the MB!!! Thanks for your feedback. The main reason that we would not produce a product or a certain sheen is that there is not a high demand for it. However, with emails like yours, there may be a need after all. I will make sure that management is aware of your suggestion, as a courtesy to you and others.
Incidentally, have you or others tried our Acrylic Crystal Clear? Do you know as to which of our clear finishes that was referenced as yellowing is? We offer many types of clear finishes. If you can find out, please let me know. By the way, if you have any pics you would want to share, I would love to see them, and I would pass them along to marketing as well. If interested, please send to the following address: _________________ Looking for the U shaped swing arm for sliding door split. Left hand drive. Baywindow arms are 1/2 inch longer. |

Linda,I think you might want the Rustolium "winter grey" for splash pan...seems to be a closer match to factory than both of the Krylon's mentioned. |

Linda, this one is a bit dark but both of these Rustolium examples have that true Grey hue vs/ the Tannish hue from the Krylons you asked about. Would also be good candidates for a Treasure Chest and fuel tank. |

| Hey Beryl Green owners, I stumbled on an unbelievable substitute for the unavailable Nepal Green needed for the shifter and e-brake for my '62. The guy who sold me the car told me he used "Oregano" Rustoleum for the inner wheel rim color (I noticed someone made that suggestion in a post of a few years ago too). Anyway I realized one day it looked real close to what was left on my shifter and e-brake handle. I did a test squirt on the e-brake handle right next to the original paint and couldn't tell the difference! So I finally repainted them both, can check that off the list. I should mention the Rustoleum is "Satin" not gloss, but it's hardly noticeable. BTW thanks to all who posted tips and diagrams for reassembling the e-brake, that was quite a journey. Sorry to waste anyone's time if this has already been discovered and shared. I can't figure out how to post a picture, otherwise I'd display. |

| Krylon Jade Satin is decent, but as mention earlier is too light. Any one got a gloss alternative? |

I've been on a search for a dove blue match.
The closest that I've found is Dupli-color engine paint "General Motors Blue"
Its a tad too bright, but the best color match that I've found so far. It is a "ceramic" type paint, and I've had flaking issues with this stuff before. Still looking though...
Heres a comparison with original paint, the top part and the bottom over spray are the duplicolor. the part right above the bolt holes is original dove blue

Just for the sake of convience, I picked up a paint chip from HD that's extremely close to Velvet Green. It's Martha Stewart's "Chard" MSL112. Easier to carry around than my awning window.
It was a good match, but because the chip is in flat it looked slightly off. So I sprayed gloss over half of it and it looks good. Goes in the wallet now. |
