What are you going to put that on? You realize that about 1/2 the power the engine makes will be required to turn that? Like if the thing dynoes at 100hp the engine is actually making 200hp....just an example coz that varies depending on the amount of over or underdrive.

I know it takes a lot to turn it, but I don't think it takes 50% power to turn it. My local expert said that the 3-71 takes about 50hp to turn it. The 2-71 would have to be over driven. This would create more heat. The 3-71 can be under driven and we can still let off extra air if needed. This thing is a beast. The real challenge is going to get it to fit. I have an idea for that though.

Mark, will this photo help. This is the unit you see in the earlier photo and was created by Bob Newmire from Iowa (now Missouri) around 1968. He was going to run the puffer on the salt but in 68 Bonneville had a rainout.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

He did drag race it but split the case in tow with all of the power. The unit still exists!

how much it will take is a funktion of how fast you want to spin it and how much boost will work against the rotors, and for sure rotating mass that are huge in this case.

at first it is way to big and if i remember fanschroud and generator have to be in place for the 36hp challenge.
this thing makes 3,5 liter per revolution. you need to underdrive it alot but don't forgett you also have to spin avery moving part and in this blower the moving parts are big and will take power. the power that the small 36er don't have. a 1600cc 36hp could help.
1:1 ratio would be 3 times more volume that this thing push than the a stock engine has in cc. and close to 10 times a stock 1200cc 36hp engine will suck as N/A.

simple math for example:
this blower 1:1 ratio with a 80% VE(i bet it is lower at this small rpm at the end with this old thing) at 5000RPM would deliver air fuel for about 350hp. so you need done alot that your engine could handle that. tom bruch should be at about 200 hp with his 126+ mph record.

@larry did you get my last mail?

If Colton from Team Blackline is correct about what they found, it is possible to get 1699cc from a 36hp now. Our first version of the engine will be about 1550cc-1600cc.

This is exactly correct. There is no exact # that you can go by. 50hp was figured at 6000rpm and 20lbs of boost. BDS estimated about 40hp.

also a little more cc is possible with same tricks. i testet the 1700cc end of last winter on a head. somewhere i have the pictures of it but didn't posted it.

in a strange way also way more via stroked porsche crank is possible, but that cc is not needed in fact that the heads are the limit at the end and the goal had to be push the enegine to make the power as late as you can without loosing it. a too big bore or stroke will make more torque but kan let in fall on it's face earlier.

with that supercharger here you have different goals than max cc...if high end is your plan you should push as large valves in it as you can. thats an over the thumb rule. then your supercharger will make virtually your displacement. your should take him every break that rise boost...boost is not good, boost is the brake of the air that want into your heads and it comes from manifold diameter, valvesize, port, cam lift and cam duration and if your chamber is full, than at the end from your displacement but how i told the breakes are at first in all that other parts.

but first question? how want you fit that thing with k36 rules...i thought generator and cooling have to stay in place.

wishes
chris

Richard Troy brought a 1700 out to bonneville this year I believe. We are building a 1700 WW okrasa engine for a customer now.

1700cc shouldn't be hard. I think I'm getting a Bridgeport mill next week so let the machine work begin, going to be a good year at WOS 2012.

Short stroke, big pistons, same size intake exhuast, supercharger Think

i have porsche pistons mahle in this size if you are interested...27mm compression height.. close to flat top. needs just a small change in the head to make a very high compression supercool race piston out of it with stock engine width.

I have a set of the "B" 85.5s to do that with I started on a couple years back. The first barrel is done but I have not got back on it yet as I'm in the car building mode at the moment (trying to get the pan done to get it to the powder coater by next Monday).
