I spent a little bit of time checking the camber front/rear and tracking over the weekend.

The drive to work this morning was a much more controlled proceedure. Smile It's amazing how much a little bit of time spent on wheel alignment can make to the whole driving experience.

Well I've come to a decision and it's this...

The 2.5TDi AAT engine conversion setup is for sale from Limey.

Everything is up and running well (I'm currently doing 400 miles a week), I figure this is the time to sell and with the money from this, I will fit something else

If anyone is interested, email me. I haven't put up the ad yet but it will look something like this...

Audi 2.5TDi AAT 5 Cylinder engine conversion (last time on the dyno was showing 145bhp, 250ftlbs)
Engine -
All parts needed to fit this to your T3 Syncro or 2WD inc
Bellhousing and associated parts
Engine mount bar
Water pipes
Loom, ECU, Immobiliser ECU and setup inc wiring
Pace three core Water cooled charge cooler (Intercooler) with pump, radiator etc - modified to fit the 2.5TDi and fit into a T3.
Engine/gearbox protection cage
Exhaust

This is a great setup but I've been thinking about changing to something else for a while (Petrol).

I may be tempted to sell the matching gearbox if someone is interested enough so that you have a matching pair.

Just look back through the previous pages to see the work that has gone into this.

I can package this up for shipping but whoever wants to buy it, arranges shipping.

Now it's on with the roof.

Small update on collecting parts for the air con fitting.

I've just received these parts from Serge in Canada (Thankyou Serge!). He only charged me for the shipping and said that knowing that the parts were going to be used on Limey was a good enough payment!

Serge, I owe you a beer... or 6! Very Happy

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

He also included some spare vents, fixings etc to make the fitting on the system as neat and factory like as possible.

On another note, I've recently been given (well... paid for a favour) a Skoda Diesel 1.9D estate in return for building a gearbox so that's now my daily driver. I must say that I prefer driving Limey but covering 400 miles a week isn't that great for Limey. I've done 12,000 miles in 4 months since starting my current job.

Limey is having a well earned rest and it means that I can now do more offroading without worrying about breaking my only driving vehicle.

Oh I forgot to mention that I re fitted the origial injector nozzles and ECU chips so that the engine is running slightly less torque. As a result, I've been able to regularly get 32mpg on my daily commute.

I can now get 500 miles to a tank although it is pushing it to find a petrol station at that point.

Also, I managed to bag a bargain of 4 tyres the same tread pattern and similar tread depth to two of my other tyres and for the first time since I can remember, Limey is on a complete set of matched road tyres... All for £20 Smile

That's what I've been thinking. Lots of us would gladly forfeit body parts or less desirable offspring for that engine combo, so it's a bit baffling that someone would voluntarily remove a dream setup like that. I'm hoping it's to be replaced by a flux capacitor or some hover-generator gizmometer.

It better be good, or else...

Well until someone buys it, it's not going anywhere! I can't afford to just pull it out and put something else in because I feel like it.

I'm looking at rescuing one of the sets of 4.57 ring/pinion sets and putting that back in which will help with mpg again.

I am having a little break from Limey at present after having covered so many miles in the last 4 months. I've spent the last two days trying to get the Bluestar running... Getting close!

I really want to get the roof done but time and space are making it difficult.

The engine isn't bad, I just fancy something different.

Update on the engine for sale...

I've dropped the price a lot in an attempt to sell it. As I've started the roof install, the van is effectively off the road so now is the best time to carry out another engine conversion.

Anyone interested... It's now £3000.

Well, I think I've just about decided to use the AAN 2.2 20V Turbo lump which was destined to go into my Bluestar for Limey.

I've been turning this over and over in my mind. I bought it at a price which I won't be able to get again easily, I have all the parts to install it and the clutch/flywheel, engine mounts, etc will all swap over from one to the other. I just have to re-jig the cooling system and charge cooler setup which I've been wanting to anyway.

In the process, Limey will be going to 6.17s instead of 4.57s (which it was running) or 4.86s which it is is currently running.

The question of course is when to do the conversion as I need it running to keep doing the roof conversion.

Mike,

That all sounds exciting, but are you sure you want to put up with the fuel consumption that combination is going to give? I know the S6 cars that that engine comes out of pretty well, and also judging by the mileage that MC Syncro reported with his 3B conversion, you'll probably only get 15-18 (US) mpg with that. For a vehicle being used for holiday travel it seems like fuel consumption would be important.

Hi David,

You have a valid point and I have also been thinking about this.

I will be having LPG fitted to the engine so the fuel economy will be comparable with the 2.5TDi as our LPG is around 70p per litre and Diesel is currently £1.40 per litre.
