The original back plate of teh battery box was totally fucked up by the previous welder... I could only safe the center section and added metal to the 4 sides of it
Checking in teh car
ready for final welding! _________________ http://slambulance.skynetblogs.be

The previous owned TRIED to fix the doors and welded in that lower repair section... resulting in waves high enough to surf on!!
So I had to cut out the full waved section
and after cleaning, seal sealing and primering the inside, it was time for a new fabbed outer doorskin section
And all done!
PS/ this means I have this Right door outer door section for sale since I will not be using this. Let me know if interested!

Outstanding attention to detail. You make it look easy, very motivating! _________________ BarryL wrote:

On to the closing panels to the door! Made a carton template from the door to replicate this on fresh metal
And welded on the bumper hangers (although I will never run bumpers but will use these for the brackets for the foglights)

Maybe not for the purists, but I made the battery box front panel with a twist:-)
forming the metal
making sure the spare will still fit!
And all welded and primered (also primered the inside of the front nose since after welding this one in place it will be hard to reach for painting!)
And finishing off with seam sealer!

Time for a NOSE JOB!!
the old nose, ready for slicing
And testfitting with the new nose and old side panels
Keep on checking alignment with the front hood!
And all welded!!
and welds cleaned up
All done!

6" FUCHS with 205/70 tyres... a pain to get on the car due to the narrow rear end but it looks SICK!!
Not sure if it will work when the car is actually on its wheels... now I have 2 mm of overall clearance meaning that the tyre now just touches the springplate and that there is 2mm between tyre and body. Need to see if I can space out teh wheel 1mm and see the result when dropped on its wheels...
I also still have this 205 tyre on a 5,5" FUCHS which I still need to fit and test.
All with a special THANKS to Gino to get the tyres mounted!

Peter, I love perusing build threads that involve panel fabrication and little, if any, use of filler. This is an incredible and well thought out build. I'm eagerly anticipating the final product. _________________ -

Does the 205 tire look too stretched on the 5.5 wheel ?
Thanks |
