|
|
Hi.
I bought a '70 Ghia Conv. that I had restored. Unfortunately, the guy who fixed the rust and painted my car, told me he can replace my wiring harness. Turns out it was a total mess. Other than the car running, the only electrical thing that works, are the lights.
Can someone please advise how where to find some pictures of how the wires in the dash should be connected?? I tried using the diagaram on this site, but it was useless.....I really need to get my brake lights and turn signals working for a start.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice you can provide.

The wiring diagram IS the best possible "picture" of the wiring diagram you're gonna get?!
If the diagram is "worthless"... then pictures will be pointless.
Take some time to familiarize yourself with the diagram and it will begin to make sense. Concentrate on one specific at a time and take your time.
It's fun!

You're saying he replaced your wiring harness? If components aren't working that should be his problem, not yours.
The electrical page on my site will break down the signalling system to a degree, but if you can't read an electrical diagram you are really better off taking it to a professional. _________________ Jason Hamilton

Check to see if he grounded any or all of the black with colored wires to the running lights. When I bought my 70 from a body guy, he had grounded them all thinking black is ground. Most body guys are that body guys, not mechanics.
Good luck |

| I'm a mechanic with red-green color blindness. what I did was go to Kinko's, pull up the link I posted for you and had it blown up to a 24"X 36" poster and hung it off side of car. worked great. my buddy is using it on his 70 now. on ghia's brown = ground. you can do it. don't focus on entire system. do one circuit at a time and it's easy. that being said.... I have to say that I'm also on a first name basis with every wire and connection on the car. |
