I have acquired my buddy's old Volkswagen collection and while he may have had some sort of order to it all I have no idea what some of the parts are, what they go to, or what years they fit. I am hoping to sell a lot of this to fund my rebuilds and I have no idea where to start. Today is just some overview shots of the smallest shed because it is the easiest to walk into and (hopefully) clear out. Monday I will begin taking individual pictures and the long process of cleaning and cataloging.

Starting in the classifieds instead of the forums would be good.

Just know that doors, hoods and bumpers are not easy to ship, so selling that stuff might not be easy.

Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to advertise here. While some of this is going up for sale other parts are going into my collection. I have many vehicles I will be restoring for myself and some family members. I don't want to clog the forum up with hundreds of "what year is this ____" and "what is that" threads. I am also using this as my thread to share what I have.

Looks like some earlie Bug stuff, and a bunch of later model stuff, lots of lugging/humping of parts for some $$ return, do some part/price research in the classifieds, I hope you have a strong back Laughing

Looks like an overwhelming task!! Enjoy the journey for unless you stumble upon some very rare parts for very old VW's, there's no real money in these photos. There is something to be said for preserving some of this stuff. People are often looking for door vent windows and OG bumpers. The first photo does have what looks like a 67 Beetle Rear bumper.

Go to area swap meets might be your best way to peddle this stuff.

That is a 1967 rear bumper and that is going on my 67 beetle. I am probably going to build that for my grandfather and trade it for his galaxy 500.

this shed is nothing compared to the other two. I am only starting on this one because it has the least amount of stuff in it.

Those look like type 3 front hoods in the first picture.

I agree with djkeev, taking this to swap meets might be a good way to get rid of it without making UPS/Fedex rich. But you'd probably want to team up with somebody who has experience on pricing things. Any local clubs?

I hope you don't have a full time job because just looking over the small amount of pictures its going to take you forever to go through and seperate what is good from junk then to clean and catalog everything.

I've done this before with large bulk parts buys and it's very time consuming to do what you're doing. Expect a ton of sweat and lots of good surprises!!

Congrats on the buy!!

So I went out Monday with my brother and we took all the parts out of the shed and set them out in the field for pictures and inventory. I had hoped to clean the parts that day too, but it was far to cold. I was disappointed to discover that most of the bumpers and most of the hoods had become quite rotten in the time they have sat in the shed. The doors were almost all in great shape though. I have just a few photos to show because I didn't feel like uploading every photo I took for inventory.
