Why would they be worth more than the dollar you paid if you can go to Walmart and buy them for that? Do they have a Walmart in Auschwitz?

Depends on how many thousands or hundred thousands produced, select market or worldwide and how old you are now in relation to can you keep a toy un-molested for forty plus years.

I personally would like to have the rest of the vehicle this was attached to prior to the crusher getting it.

Mr Anchovy thanks for your kind, helpful words. I hope you feel good about yourself today Rolling Eyes

The reason I asked is because sometimes I have seen some of the hot wheels (even the newer ones) go for good money, I've never seen these before and thought they might be rare.

whatever...they're going on my shelf, wasn't looking for info as if I was expecting to get rich on some one dollar hotwheels

Yes, some Hot Wheels are instantly worth more than the $1 you paid because they can be hard to find and because of the "collectors" that grab them up via various methods, sometimes before they even get put out at the store.

I don't know if that one is harder to find but you never know...

With a death camp listed as your location and a rude quip for your signature line, your reaction to my comment shouldn't surprise me. My original comment was a legitimate question. Why would the value change immediately? I am not tuned in to the hotwheels market.

I'm a member of the hot wheels collectors club. Here's what makes a hot wheels car extremely valuable.

1. Vintage/Redline.
2. If it's a treasure hunt car(The SP2 is not, yet anyway).
3. Limited production or a promo car.
4. A car that the collectors go ape $@&$ for (this casting isn't).
5. Error car (casting defect, assembly defect, mis matched wheels, etc. This can be questionable as to value)

Will it be valuable down the line? Probably not for a while since it's brand new, and they make quite a few thousand of them since it's a mainline car and there'll be at least 2 color changes in it's first year of production.

For the most part there aren't too many castings that go straight up in value once they hit the pegs. One was the VW drag bus, because it was the heaviest casting hot wheels ever did. The second was the Karmann Ghia, because mattel only made maybe 2000 of them as first editions. The only hot, valuable hot wheels I know of this year is the Ghostbusters Ecto 1. Plus when a new casting goes up in value right away, it's only making a couple bucks more than what you paid, we're not talking money you can retire on.

See my post above. It applies to the big stuff too. There's only been one rare 1/18th scale bus and that's the chrome Red Line Club exclusive from about 10 years ago.
