Ok, i noticed there's no regional sub forum, and lots of guys from the PNW area. This will be a thread about sounding off. Please include:
Name (first is fine)
Where in WA
What you drive/details
Clubs/meets you affiliate with
Pictures are a plus, and any other information. I just moved to the area, hoping to meet some people, find a few meetups and hangouts, or maybe reignite some that have burned out.
I can start:
Kyle
Puyallup WA
1962 Bug - getting refreshed after sitting for about 10 years in a barn
No clubs yet. I've seen car meets at Target (saturdays) on Meridian, and Sonic Burger is a good spot.

Mike
Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island
1963 15 window walk-thru deluxe. Mostly stock except for 12 volt upgrade
and 1600SP engine (with big cap distributer) Rolling on Cocker
bias ply 6.40-15 stock tires. Bus rolled off assembly line 6 Feb '63 and was delivered here in Seattle a few weeks later to Carter Motors Volkswagen. I'm the third owner. Bought it sight unseen ( well I did have some photos sent by my daughter) while working Federal civil service
for the U.S. Navy in Japan. That was 1995.
Retired after returning to Washington from Japan in 2004. Since then Wife and I have made trips to places like the Custer national battlefield and the black hills as well as several trips to San Diego to visit one of my old ships there, USS Midway, tied up there as a Naval Aviation museum.
We love rollin the Oregon coast and hiway 1 ( Pacific Coast hiway)
I also own a 1966 VW bug purchased new in that year while stationed
in San Diego at NAS Miramar. Wife and I have driven it across the U.S. four times. Taught my daughter to drive in it in the late 1980's. Fun!
The only organization I've ever belonged to is
The United States Navy (1957-1987)
never belonged to anything else, at least car wise.
Kinda like rollin' by myself. However, If I see ya on the road,
hard down, I'll stop. Always glad to bear a hand.
Aside from that,
Attempt to make the Shorline VW show each year and once in
a while the VW event up in Burnaby, B.C.
Welcome to Washington.

I almost forgot there are several VW groups in your local area.
One of the largest and most well know is the Cascade Kombis.
They put on the vintage show each year. You can reach them at
http://www.cascadekombis.org
good luck. |

I have not had a vw for about 2 years until now so I have not been on there. I got a VW again and the spring meet looks good. I'm sure I'll end up going. _________________ There are 3 kinds of people in this world, The kind that can count and the kind that can't.

I'm out in Port Orchard. There always seem s to be a slump during the rainy season
I've currently got a 67P beetle, the 73 Thing, and a 66 Bus.
Unfortunately I've got to Move to Upstate New York for 3the years. Not sure what I'm doing with the thing. Going to try and take the Bus and garage Her for the salty season. The Bug is for sale to fund the Bus.
Looking forward to Springmeet and hopefully Olydubs does their meet & greet out at Fruits in Tacoma this year. |

It was at Griot's Garage http://www.griotsgarage.com/ in Tacoma. Absolutely wonderful place to hold a meet or GTG. It's a former Coca-cola bottling plant converted to an automotive Mecca of sorts. While it's main operation is selling high end car care products, it has a museum of sorts, cafe, and a park that can be reserved for doing shows. Really nice venue.
Someone from Olydubs arranged the GTG last year and I hope they do it again. The picnic/show area is free for car clubs to reserve. It has a covered pavillion and BBQs as well.
Oh, by the way
I live in Poulsbo
