I asked a little while ago where the Tigerbus was going on its shake down trip before setting of on the big one. A newly built bus setting off on a major overland trip is asking for trouble without being driven for a minimum of a year before hand is crazy. Gutted it went wrong though, Aiden Talbot in the UK is spot on if the Tiger bus can stay held up for a couple of weeks?

Tourqey TDI, bigger wheels and heavy loaded. Tranny trouble, unfortunately...
Hopefully it's easy repairable, their trip is way cool.
+1 on Aidan, master champ in transmission fixin'! |

Ooh, love that yellow!! It's catching on as the coolest Syncro color ever, according to right handed, N. Idaho Syncro owners who also like to snowshoe and mountain bike...
Wow - 6600lbs? That would be a challenge on improved roads, but on primitive or backcountry roads - wow. It would take some conservative driving styles to avoid shock loading drivetrain and suspension parts. But it says a lot about the Vanagon's basic foundation that they researched and built this on one.
Looking forward to reading the blog later tonight.

There are a couple english posts, starting with Dec 3, 2011 (lightbars, tire chains, fuel cells)
I'd like to know more about the fuel cells.

Anyway, really cool van. Hopefully they get back on the road without too much drama. _________________

I have a mate who built this van a few years ago,
The picture was taken while in Morocco, and all though it stands out as a flashy van here in the UK with our green environment it blends in a treat in the terrain it was built to drive in. He sprayed his VW LT 40 the same because he reckoned he had some paint left over
