I know you guys are a split bus club but why not let the bay window guys park inside (for a more reasonable fee than $50) as I'm sure that would also generate more money. Charge them double ($10) and put them in their own section if you feel the need to segregate but at least that will add to the money collected.

Just a thought (Ed, be kind). Smile

And have the West Coast Bay club run that section? Under the OCTO governing....

Would you allow a Super Beetle in a Split Window club, or allow a Vw Thing in a Kuble club or perhaps a 411 in a Type 3 club? I don’t think so they are all different cars they just look a little alike, that does not make them the same.
This is nothing against Bay windows or their owners; this is a Split Window Bus Club not a Big Window Bus Club.
It will never happen Octo is for 67 & earlier split window buses Period …

I wasn't trying to start a pissing match, just offering a way for OCTO to generate more revenue for the club and those charities they support. I will still attend (and swap) as it's always a great show.

Thanks.

No worries not a pissing match not worth the trouble. The problem is this comes up every show bays are not and will not be part of OCTO.
At the last Hot VWs Drag Day I was approached by the people who run Pomona swap meet & car show. They were looking for a VW club that could display the cars for thousands of people to see and enjoy.
I suggested The Kimball’s West Coast BaY Window club, They worked out the details and Pomona gave them a ft. row area with 18 or so free VIP passes, I think I counted 7or 8 busses that showed up for the camp out.
Wasted space and time for Bay owners who always want to be in a show so bad. The ones that did show up had really nice busses and displays for people to enjoy & (they even had great homemade cookies) I wish it would have been bigger, so they would have got more attention.
I myself would love to see an all VW bus show including Vanagons but it just won’t be at an Octo show.

We'll be heading down from Nor Cal for this one...I for one am glad it's on a Saturday..it's much easier to take a Friday off work than a Monday for those who have to travel in and have a J.O.B!

A S.O.T.O meet to bring all the Type 2's together would be a blast. We could host it at Glen Helen Regional Park and call it 'The Bus Festival'.

to anyone whining about anything to do with OCTO, please allow me to ask you to deal with it. OCTO puts on the best organized and run shows I have ever been to. I have been to probably 50 different car shows all over the country, and I have promoted car shows, and I think that every car show promoter should be required to attend OCTO just to see how good a car show can really be.

too long of a drive? try driving from Idaho. its a fucking thousand miles to LA, and I make that drive at least once a year in a stock bus.

won't let your bay window in cheap? take all the money that you saved by not driving a split, and apply that to your entry. you will still be money ahead, albeit stylistically challenged.

not used to a saturday car show? what day of the week have you been attending june OCTO?

so when you are in line to OCTO knowing damn well that you are about to get into the coolest bus show in the world, please do two things:
1) have your money ready when you get to the gate. it speeds it along for everyone. (no coins, no roaches or even full joints, no sorry excuses or stories, just get your ass through the gate and quit holding up the line)
2) thank the VOLUNTEER who is working the gate. he is not getting to enjoy the show yet because he is too busy helping you get in so you can enjoy the show.

also, consider giving the gate more than the $5 they are asking. seriously, you know that what you are getting is worth more than $5.

ranting over.....

Is there a link anywhere of a split owner bitching about not getting into a bay event?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Somebody needs a hug.... Very Happy

Seriously though, I love the OCTO show and look forward to it every few months since it's close to me (Lind, you are hardcore for sure). I would love to help (I'll park the bay in the parking lot as usual) so if you guys need more hands please ask.

Not to change the topic but...
I haven't missed an OCTO show in 6 years. My wife tried to tell me we had our tax appointment scheduled for Sat. Feb. 25th.
After she picked herself up off the floor, she changed the appointment.
See you all at OCTO Very Happy
