I have been a VW fanatic since I was a teenager. I have owned 5 bugs, a bus, a squareback and a fastback in my time but it has been about 15 years or so since I last had a VW.
A couple weeks ago I made a deal on a fixer upper 1967 Convertible Bug, ordered a new copy of John Muirs book and now I am just waiting until I have the moola to buy a battery, some tires and so forth to get started.
I am shelling out 2800 for this, but making small monthly payments. _________________ The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think think they've found it - Terry Pratchett

If it's all there and solid 2800 is a good deal. Good luck! _________________ Save a tree eat a beaver |

Register it? I am new to the forums and I'm not sure what you mean.
The interior - Well the drivers seat is gone, passenger seat is there but not attached, the back seat is OK but needs reupholstered or covered. The floors look pretty good.
The interior definitely needs some work. If I could have paid full cash instead of going in debt for it I am sure I could have gotten it at a much lower price but its worth it to me. The years keep a marching by and I am just tired of not having a VW :O) and thats the truth!
Here are some shots of the interior I stepped out and took moments ago:

I was wondering the same thing myself. It is a new top, it was put on by the folks at the car lot. I was wondering about the flap hanging down in the back and thinking maybe it wasnt installed correctly. I just got it brought to the house a few days ago and havent gotten the chance to start working with it yet. _________________ The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think think they've found it - Terry Pratchett

The previous owner (a used car lot) stripped the seats out and stuff and had plans to do some restoration but they abandoned the project and then it sat for about a year before I made them a deal.
I was told that a lot of work had been done on it and their plan was to maybe sell it on eBay at some point but they just didnt have the time to continue with it. _________________ The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think think they've found it - Terry Pratchett

Sticky topic in the '58-67 forum. 'The Surviving 1967 VW Bug Registry': http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=461170
It's not a requirement.. but just for fun if you want to list it as a surviver. _________________ Paypal sucks... Check out one viable alternative.

Thanks for the comments.
I am new and I just realized that I have probably put this in the wrong section of the forum. I dont see a way to move it under the edit options.

If you'd like to move it to the "Beetle 1958-1967" forum, just send one of the mods a PM, and it can be moved. I think this is the right place for this thread, though.
Looks like you have a pretty good start to a project--how's the decklid? Best of luck with it, and looking forward to seeing your progress! _________________ Semi-actively looking for a Beetle... |

I am trying to figure out what all I have here with this beast. The number under the back seat is 117 048 228
Plate under the hood:
The Engine
That number is B 427100
I have looked at the chart on http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/bugchassisdating.php but nothing seems to match up. I understand that after all these years its hard to tell what changes may have been made to any car.
Because of the B I am assuming the engine is a 1600 from 69 or 70 _________________ The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think think they've found it - Terry Pratchett

Your floor pan and body numbers not matching, well the VW code is,
First two digits is the body style, 11 is a sedan and 15 is a 'vert.
Third digit is model year, 7 is 1967
Remaining digits are the serial number of the car.
So you have a 67 'vert body on a 67 sedan pan. No difference between pans that I know of, all the extra bracing (like the support rails between the wheelwells) are on the body.
A year ago I finished a 2-year project on a 69 'vert (actually ended up a 68 body with everything else from my original 69 as my 69 body was totally shot). Had the poor car in boxes, but I'm enjoying it now. _________________ I'm not losing my hair, it's just retired and relocating further south.

Does it have the 'vert pan stiffeners installed?
Engine with the riveted plate on it means it was a factory rebuild at one time. B code lists it as a 1500 single port, which judging by the picture it still is (although it may have had 1600 cylinders put on at some time). |

I dont know what 'vert pan stiffeners are an am far from being an expert on these things. Though I had a few bugs in the past this is my first encounter with a convertible.
It gets confusing - there is a chart on http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=251308 that shows B as 1969 - 1970 1600 _________________ The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think think they've found it - Terry Pratchett

Amen brother.
Great find, looks like it'll be a fun project, especially with the floors and channels already done! |

YES!! Thats one of the more rare Beetle Convertible decklids. Only fits 1967 year model.( without mods) Even has the right 1967 rain tray.
Nice score. _________________ aka Ken
