Just like the title says, Found a 911t sitting behind a guys barn under a trap and asked him how much he wanted for it and he said 500$. Well ofcorse there was no thinking neccasry. Paint is alright. Needs a floor pan on the drivers side, seats are good, motor looks good seems stuck right now, gonna try some marvel mystery oil in it and see if it frees up. Dont have any pics right now because its my moms boyfriends car and its at his house.

Good luck, a old 911 can be a real money pit.

More like $5000+ for a real rebuild.

Do an Google search on Motor Meister. Don't send the engine to them.

Glenn is right. If you don't know what you're doing and you start paying people to work on the car, you're setting yourself up for severe problems.

If you really do get it for $500, my advice is to start to do research on your own to learn about the cars, the good parts suppliers, the good mechanics, etc. Then you will have a good frame of reference on what to do.

And it will cost a ton. Very Happy

Here is some reading to get you familiar with the talk of Motormeister. This is one of many threads on Pelican Parts.

Their reputation in the Porsche chat rooms would make me look elsewhere for a quality rebuild.

You cannot get a full rebuild on that motor for $2k, a valve job and top end will cost more than that. Plus you are dealing with shipping cross country. I suggest you do your homework as other members suggested and research rebuild prices the cost of repair parts. Although, I have never dealt with Motor Meister, online they are considered the GEX of the Porsche scene.

Although, $500 sounds like a killer deal even if its just a parts car. You should be able to flip it or part it out.

Yeah, I've seen some really messed up ones go for thousands. If it's all there, you're starting our dollars ahead... it'd have to be pretty f'd up to cut up for "parts". It's not a 71 Beetle Wink

Akso: Motormeister = NO! Really bad idea. You'll spend much more in the end, when you have fix the mess they make of your original engine. Don't do it.

Walk away from a few things here:

MotorShiester
The long hood 911

For the $500 you paid for it, part it out. Take the $3-4k you made on it and apply it towards an 80's Motronic 911. You'll be money and sanity ahead.

A proper flat six rebuild should, not could, should cost you about $6-8k on the cheap. Anything less will be a time bomb.

Yes, I have owned more than a few long hoods and other 70's-80's air-cooled P-cars.

Trust me on this (I know you won't).

Cool

You'd be miles ahead with a Raby's inspired Type 4 (Porsche 914/VW412/T2) engine. He's right there in GA.
