very interested, I'm really dizzy with all the 2WD product limitations and not-vanagon-specific options available lately.
I think the 4WD crowd has figured out this for the most part or at least their options are more straight forward. _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

I am very interested in a get together.
I volunteer to collect data on suspension height, wheel height, motor height, motor type, ground clearance, even axle angles if anyone wants to jack up a wheel to full droop. (I can measure driveshaft flange angles too) _________________ Where in the world are the The Lost Burritos? |

Cool!
How about March 17 or 24?
I've got the older 2WD Syncro.org lift springs.
Anyone running the GW progressive's that would like to share thier setup with the crowd?
Anyone with the new S.org Schwenk lift springs? _________________ 89 GL Westy, orig 2.1L WBXR.. Will it ever blow?

Sounds like fun. I've got the Moog 5660 front, air bag rear, Konis that I can show. I'm interested in how other shocks feel too.
I should be able to make it either of those days. Pt. Richmond is good, that's about 50 mins drive for me. _________________ 1986 Vanagon Westfalia EJ25

Excellent, I've been wanting to meet and get a good look at those air bags, you've got!
I might have the Monroe Max Airs installed on the rear by then.. See what a par of $40 adjustables can do.
I'll bring the Monroe coil-over Sensatracs to lend if someone want to try them on thier ride for a few weeks. Those will kick the butt up by 1/2 to 3/4 in. depending on load.
cheers,
jim
PS.. I'll just pick one of those two weekends... say on Monday, so folks can firm up plans. Which one depending on feedback here over the weekend..
I'm going to the find snow tonight. Back on Monday.
lOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.. Maybe will find answers to a few questions, eh? _________________ 89 GL Westy, orig 2.1L WBXR.. Will it ever blow?

Oops, you let in a syncro. They are known to come out in groups and take over events

It just wouldn't be the same without you, Mario.
Point Richmond. Also known as the "Riviera"
Easy to find.. Just south of the massive Chevron Richmond Refinery.. _________________ 89 GL Westy, orig 2.1L WBXR.. Will it ever blow?

OK.. Here's the spot:
http://www.ebparks.org/parks/miller_knox
Very easy to get to coming from the West off San Rafael/Richmond Bridge
or from the south and east off HWY 580.
The link above has specific driving instructions.
Its a nice, lightly visited area. There's plenty of open space.. free parking. And the frontage road is poorly paved and uneven.. perfect for testing out suspensions.
Point Richmond has several good eateries.. BTW.
Yes.. Syncros are encouraged to join in the fun. _________________ 89 GL Westy, orig 2.1L WBXR.. Will it ever blow?

Count me in, as well. I'm just starting the research for springs for my 1986 GL Westy.
Don't know if it will be GW zero raise, 1.5" raise, or common sense and some Moogs.
(Which Moogs?)
I'd also like to learn more about what shocks people are running.
Didn't the Astors and DuPonts summer in Richmond? _________________ 1986 Westy GL 4 spd |

still on, Jim is out of town.
Meeting date would be March 17 or 24 as mentioned above. Any preference? _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

Am back.. found some snow.. Yay!
The date:
I am leaning towards Sunday, March 25th. 1:00pm..
Jon,
BBQ sounds good. Maybe an afternoon fire? We'll pack our Weber Q100
Eat around 2:30-3:00..until whenever?
I'll bring my floor jack and a couple jack stands.. to help lift vans to look at travel/droop, crawl under, etc..
To my knowledge we have a variety of shock abosrbers installed on vans that will be in attendance, and we have a variety of OEM springs.
There are at least two sets of older generation Syncro.org springs for 2WD.
The air bags and Moogs on Presslab's van.
We could really benefit in having the 2" GW springs on a van.. Anyone?
If anyone knows of someone, please pass along the info... I'll ask around myself, as well. _________________ 89 GL Westy, orig 2.1L WBXR.. Will it ever blow?

A p-mail or two has asked about Saturday instead of Sunday.
Is Saturday better?
Saturday the 24th, 1:00pm?
BBQ around 3:00ish.
Randy, Dylan...
I'll look into formatting observations in a way that we can share with the board. _________________ 89 GL Westy, orig 2.1L WBXR.. Will it ever blow?
