Finally got the zwitter out of its resting place in the forest. As bad as this car looks, it's so solid. We left a trail of tar undercoating from the floorpan while pulling it out of the woods, and underneath the sheetmetal is actually shiny. Nice little surprise.

Neat sticker found on the inside of the trunk.

Few more pics... including the very chewy back of the car!

And the interesting "custom" ashtray I found in the trunk.

I'm amazed at how solid this thing is, where the undercoating has come off of the floorpan, it's actually still shiny. I think my favorite thing about this car is the fact that it was rescued from a scrap yard in 1967 by a VW enthusiast, and has sat untouched on his property ever since. That's 45 years of putting off a project!

It came with a fair bit of spares, too... another rear decklid, 2 trunk lids, a proper rear apron, one headlight assy, one tail light and a bunch of little bits and pieces. Haven't dug through everything yet, but I'm definitely happy with this deal.

I sure have my work cut out for me for the next... 20 years though! haha

"You can do it!" I have been working on my zwitter since 1982 (hopefully it will be done this year...just in time for it's 60th birthday!)

p.s. Nice astray...but...it's gotta go.

Hahaha yeah, at least I can salvage the crest from it.

The plan for this car is to strip it, see what I need, and just start collecting parts for a couple years, it's indoors and safe now so I don't need to stay awake at night wondering if a tree is going to fall on it.

Wicked!! Congrats on this find. Sounds like my story a little bit. Nice to see another original Canadian Zwitter rescued. I got mine out of Scarborough, Ontario area so not far from you. Good luck with your project.

Thanks! This one was originally found in a scrap yard in Oshawa (In '67), so even closer to you. Go to any shows around Ontario? I'm at most of them but usually with one of my fat chicks.

I purchased this 2 owner, original paint 1950 / 11C hardtop a couple of months ago. Its a Belgium delivery car at Anciens Etablissements, Brussels on July 8, 1950. Matching numbers engine per VW document. Bob at BBT is handling delivery for me and already in transit. Oh yeah......did I forget to mention the Denzel engine I also purchased? Enjoy photos, Mr. Okrasa Dancing

I don't know what VW Canada used for undercoat, but mine is the original pan to Aaron. They must have splashed it on like butter!

I hear ya! My '52 has less rust than all of my fat chicks except for the one from the california desert- and it sat outside for YEARS.
