just figured I'd post this up,
I was going through stuff in my laptop, and found this pic. I'd originally wanted to base my car closely on this one. And now that I've remembered it, I still do.

like a lete model? NOO i would keep your early model look. If i had known the difference i wouldnthave bought my car and would have bought a 62-66 car. Those are the nicest (that i would EVER be able to afford) besides the split and oval windows _________________ 1974 SuperBeetle Build

Well, not really a late model look, but more of a german-ish look, or maybe a classic euro-tuner look?
I dunno what you could call it, but I definitely want to get some sport style headlights and 8 or 10 spoke wheels, actually these are my favorites-

While I agree that the older cars do have a distinctive style and attractiveness, I also think that the late-models are great in their own way. They kept the Beetle line going for years after it probably should have died (being honest, you can guess I wish they'd never stopped being made!). I actually bought my Super specifically because it was a Super! Next up, I hope, is an early model. Or at least a late Standard... _________________ 1973 Super Beetle from the junkyard--engine waiting for install!

Well, lets see..
Yesterday was graduation.
I had to be at school at 7:30am SHARP for Graduation practice. So I guess Ruby was feeling pissy or something and decided to break down on me on the way there.
Now, IDK what happened or what caused it, but she started back firing a little bit, and bogging down when I tried to give it gas. TO ME, it sounded like it got hot..again.
I didnt have time to diagnose the problem, so I had to get my grandmother to take me to school. (Got there at 7:50 )
(Oh also, on the way there, one of my hubcap trim rings broke and flew off. Waste of $30)
Chapter 2.
Now, after graduation practice, I get dropped off at my car and I give it a look-over. The oil was a little low, and my tennis ball deck lid prop had failed. So, I am assuming now that it just got hot. We'll see.
(I swear I've never had as many issues with a ACVW, than I have with Ruby. Makes me miss driving my Grey car A TON.. )
So I ran home, got some oil, and filled it back up. I cranked it over and of course it ran fine.
Now, here comes the fun part.
I needed to turn around, and I didnt want to have to back up into the road for fear of stalling in the middle of it. So, I use a driveway to turn around with. Well, I guess I had one too many things on my mind and just wasn't aware of the depth of the thing, but I ended up backing up into a ditch.
I tried (stupidly) to push it out. Of course it didnt work. Luckily, the guy whose driveway i used had a truck and chain handy. So one quick tug by his Chevy truck (I noticed a 'VW of HUNTSVILLE' sticker on the back of his truck. He bought it from a VW dealer.. ), and I was out.
So next on my list, is to be sure Ruby is running right, and get a transmission for the grey car. I miss it alot. I never had any trouble with it. Plus I have some grad. money I can help to pay, with.
Yesterday was a crazy day. |
lol i know this post is old but just wanted to throw in, i did the exact same thing with my mercedes (winter beater ) trying to turn around after dropping my frined off at his house at the end of a one way street. It was muddy and rainy out and it got REALLY stuck in the mud. Literaly, thats how it sat in the ditch. Didnt need to get pulled out tho, we went and got plywood and jammed it under the back tires (back right, theonly one that turns ) had to explain to my mom why my car was COVERED in mud from the middle of the back door onward
Bad picture i know

Well this weekend (hopefully) I'm going to go 2 blocks from my house and see about possibly buying a mid 80's (?) Porsche 911 that's been sitting there in a driveway for at least 5 years.
Erm, well...
if it is in fact for sale, I'll be selling the Beetle to get it. _________________ BEETLE BUMS VW CLUB

Well, I decided what I'm going to ask for for my upcoming Birthday,
I'm going to get my doors and ignition matched to one key. Turns out I've actually got correct door locks, but my ignition and decklid locks are from a '67-72 beetle!
And I thought it was the other way around!
Oh, also sat down and compiled a full parts needed list for my car. This is what I ended up with.
not counting a paint job, I'd estimate that to add up to around $2K _________________ BEETLE BUMS VW CLUB
