While rooting through my bin of parts and pictures of tear-down I noticed a coat hook which I thought was kind of unique.
My question - original vw accessory or creative PO? My thoughts are even if its not VW I should install it because it seems like a good idea, but I wanted to know if anyone has seen one like this before? Thanks in advance guys.

Thanks guys for the input. So the plot thickens.
Must be the paint fumes or the Kroil seeping into my brain, but as it turns out the hook in the first picture is different than the close-ups.
I dug through more parts and actually found the hook in the original pic.
And its not steel, it seems like its made out of magnesium or something similar.
Here is the kicker, the pressing looks far too familiar to the coat hook seen on a grab handle for a '55 and earlier. Could this just be for a different model VW? (Bus, Ghia, etc). The stamping is far too similar right down the seem in the middle of the "ball". Its soaking in parts cleaner for now, but here it is.
Comparing it to a coat hook for the grab handle....
Sorry for misleading with the wrong part earlier! Lets start over. _________________ Shadetree Westy

It almost looks like it may fit under you grab handle and make a double hook, the screws seem they may be the correct distance apart. ? |
