Hi,
My Super Beetle '75 uses 7mm and 11mm FI fuel hoses.
I'm wondering if I can use imperial size fuel hoses instead?

1/4 inch is equal to 6.35mm

27/64 inch is equal to 10.71mm
or
7/16 inch is equal to 11.11mm

Suggestions?

OK,
Good to know for the 1/4 inch.

What kind of clamps did you use? Anything special?

Metric hoses are simple to find in our country, why aren't you getting those instead?

Run it for awhile and see if it gets quieter

In my area (Sudbury, Ontario) I can't seem to find any store with metric size hose: Maslack, Napa...
They only have Imperial size. The supply seems to be for american cars.

If I want metric I can't find anyone close by. I can order a fuel line kit for a VW Super Beetle '75 from Germansupply in Toronto.

Nothing close by.

That's why I'm thinking of using imperial FI line instead. I can pick that up at just about any store.
So, I'm still trying to replace the 7mm and 11 mm for my Super Beetle.
I'm also looking for appropriate fuel line clamps.

Any store suggestions?

I used the closest size available, and use standard hose clamps, and checked for leaks. Like you, I could not a local store that carried metric sized hoses.

Those standard hose clamps did the job?
I actually thought you needed stronger clamps, those recommended for fuel injected lines?

Not that I've needed, but then again I'm not FI on mine (I have a 73 Super). Even still, I tried the FI clamps, and had a poor experience with them. I found these style put a more evenly distributed pressure around the hose, were cheaper, and just plain worked.

You could also use the slightly undersized hose you noted to use it's own stretch to put pressure and create a seal around the line in conjunction with the clamp. Just make sure the hoses are FI rated as well.
