190mm bore, 250mm stroke. That's over 7 liters per cylinder![/i] |
That is simply astounding. I fucking love it. I wonder what it sounded like? I bet the ground shook around the car while it was running. |
I bet the idle sounded like Optimus Prime punching a sperm whale in the face. _________________ Vehicles I have:

I'm still thinking MG-based or something similar. Is it possible to research historic Ontario number plate records? That might reveal something. |
There is no way to go back and run a plate that old. Based on the black and white and size of the plate - its a 1955 plate. From the early 1900's until 1973 in Ontario you got a new license plate each year as part of keeping your car registered. It wasn't until a few years ago (maybe 5 years) where vintage car owners were able to register their car with the plate from that year.... So, this is likely a photo from 1955, of a car customized at that time.
My guess is its a one off custom.
Stonefish, do you know where in Ontario the photos were taken? |
All indications point that way-------British running gear, VW/DKW/Porsche
headlights, funky windshield, front "bumper" molded into the body------ |

Ontario?!? I know it gets warm for a few weeks there in summer but the size of the leaves on some of the bushes in the background says jungle or much further south to me, I've only visited when it was 40 below so maybe I'm wrong but WTF? Or is the pic when it's competing somewhere else? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The big leaves are from the tree the photographer is standing under, so they're actually only a couple feet away, look like elm leaves to me.
You see several people standing/sitting in the trees along the road, so it must be part of a road race. _________________ Fastback owner and unrepentant

It looks like a Jowett to me for some reason.
I just spent a lot of time researching Jowett recently locking on the original paint color on my 55 from NZ (which was a CKD car painted in the Jowett factory in Jowett Jupiter Orange).
...but it looks like a custom fiberglass body. ie; the "bumper" is a mold extension of the body.
or even..............a Ferarri 212 or 225 chassis. _________________ 55 RHD CKD Käfer

This just came in from the guy I was trying to help ID that hill climber...it is from an early 60's publication. He thinks the cars are related...

A definite "family" resemblance. This example looks more refined, though, with a nicer front end and fender flares. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society
