So what did you end up doing for the seat stand and surround mats?

I trimmed the top seat stand mat to fit on passenger side pedistal then installed the side seat stand mat. I purchased a piece of trim from Bustedbus.com to bridge the two mats. I have coming and extra set of top and side mats to cut them up to use for top section of rear side. $100 fix. Mad

I am not done yet but i can send you SGKent picture of the fix he sent me, its more detailed. and when i get done i will post more pictures. One thing is dry install the mats, make all your cuts then glue in place. Make sure you have it lined up right and have a heat gun to help losen the rubber. doing it in the cold will not work.

Yeah if you could send the details he sent you and what and where you ordered would be great. All I keep being told is that stuff won't for Sad you'd think there was enough demand to make the right stuff

that is the info he sent me.... I bought both top and side mats again and plan to do what in the picture. I got my mats at Wolfsburg West. They fit nice when warm. THe top ones you have to be very careful to line up everything just right before you push it on the glue as once its down you can get it back up but it rips the foam. SO place it ounce. I did mine alone but could have used extra set of hands to help hold the mat off the glue till lined up. On the sides and top you can almost fold the mat in half set that section and unfold and set that section. Make sure you line up right or you will have hard time getting the rubber flap in the slot. Heat gun helps here. If you take your time to make all the right cuts and do a dry run so you know what it gonna take and where it all needs to line up. The mats have hole markers so it is pretty easy to figure out. With the heat gun, patience, and a little muscel you will be fine. Do it on a warm day.

here is my bus right now. You can see the top edge of seat stand covered by piece of trim, i got that from busdepot. the little corner piece i had. THose trims will hide the top cuts to the scabbed on piece of mat for side of seat stand. Pictured in first post on this page is how SGkent did it. It appears he use the bottom portion of the driverside side mat to cover the top of the passenger side side of seat stand. Hope it helps a bit. Again i will pull my seat and take a picture but if you dry fit and use a razor slowly you can use the old glue line and the contour of the bus to trim the mat up just fine.

I used both as mine 79 came with the corner piece an the OG mat had a built in piece to cover the edge. I got the earlier bay trim piece to replicate this look. Chris at bustedbus.com trim went all the way from B pillar to around inner corner. So you do not need the plastic trim corner. I cut the trim piece from bustedbus to suit my needs.

Maybe 79 is different than 78, it is in many ways, but the 78 had just a piece of channel rubber that went over the edge of the rubber and there was a very small cap at the end. The flat corner piece that you showed in the pic from sgkent is the piece that would have gone on a passenger bus

I'm curious to see how you fit the two together.

78 and 79 were the same.

Yours is a P22 and not a P27. In other words, mine is a deluxe with fridge, stove, front dash table, and camping stool. Those tie downs are to secure the camping stool in place. See the picture (ignore the bucket - old shot):

When you have spent as much time and money as Matt has in the pursuit of a perfect restoration, you will understand. Meanwhile, you'll have to settle for having a green nose on the inside of your bus. Wink

But you do have a good steering wheel wrap that is the envy of many.
