Bug-In moves to Irwindale!!!
The Flat-4 Bug-In 37 will be held at the Irwindale Speedway!
We are sure that a lot of you have heard the stories and rumors, both fact and fiction, about the closing of both the Irwindale and Fontana Drag Strips. The Irwindale facility closed because the people leasing the property filed Chapter 7 and left the building. The immediate future was unknown, but canceling plans for the March 18 Drag Day event. A couple weeks later word went out that the Fontana track was also closed because of a noise problem. At first we heard it just might be a few days . . . and then we heard at least six months. The future for the Bug-In and Hot VWs Drag Day 2012 season was not looking good.
. . . But now things have changed and the owners of the Irwindale Speedway property have given us the rights to hold the Flat-4 Bug-In 37 at their Irwindale facility. The folks at the raceway are very positive and working with us in any way they can. They have also given us the tentative date of July 15 as a make-up date for the March Drag Day race and are still holding our October 28 date for our Triple Crown Series finale. We think we’re looking quite a bit better!
The Flat-4 Bug-In 37 will host the largest all-VW swap meet on the West Coast and a giant car show with classes for all Volkswagens, both are free entry with paid spectator admission. Legendary VW racers, Mark and Paul Schley, have just finished the restoration of their “Chop-Top” Lightning Bug, and Scottish collector, Russell Ritchey, has flown over his example of the first Oval Window Lightning Bug. Both of these classic race Beetles will be shown, along with the Lightning Bug Dragster. The Land Speed racers will also be there with a large contingent of salt-flat cars, we have special club displays, including DKP who will be hosting their cruise night at Nicks on Friday night. The manufacturers’ ‘mid-way’ will feature all the latest VW stuff.
Still a lot of other special activities being planned . . . . Stay tuned!

Car Show Info
Once again the Car Show at this years BUG-IN 37 is FREE thanks to our sponsor Wolfsburg West. Any year or model VW is welcome to participate, and we just about have a class for everyone. Our car show is divided into two separate categories; Vintage and Custom. Among those categories are different classes split up by model and year. It is completely up to the participant whether they want to be judged in the Custom class, or the Vintage Class.

$250 to Low ET of the Day! Rancho Performance
**All class winners will be eligible for the three rounds of eliminations to be run immediately after the last class final round.**
Classes of Competition
“Q” Quick 32 Sponsored by A1 Muffler, this is a qualified bracket, an additional $100 entry is required.
“T1” Air-cooled Trophy Bracket 12.99 and quicker
“T2” Air-cooled Trophy Bracket 13.00 to 14.99
“T3” Air-cooled Trophy Bracket 15.00 and slower
“T4” Water-cooled Trophy Bracket 4 - Open to all water cooled VWs
“T5” VW Bus Trophy Bracket - Open to any VW bus, vanagon or eurovan
“T6” Thirty-Six Horse Trophy Bracket -All the participants in this special bracket must have an engine based on the 36hp case. Wolfsburg West has posted $500 to the first car to win using their new “Okrasa-Style” kit.
"PP" Powder Puff - Open to all the ladies Organized by Susy Herbert (the best in the biz)
“O/T” Outlaw Turbo Organized by Marty Staggs, Heads Up Racing for Cash Awards
“S/S” Super Stock Organized by Doug Gonzales, Head Up "Street Car/All Motor" Racing for Cash Awards
“NK” 165 Class Organized by LowBuget Racing, this is a brand new “heads-up” class for the 2012 season open to any air-cooled VW street car or race car. All contestants must run the required 165/15 Nanking tires in the rear at a minimum of 20psi.

Swap/Vendor Info
Swap Meet Spaces are for private parties selling "used" parts only. If you are a business or shop selling new or used parts, you will need to get a Vendor spot.
Vendor Spaces at this year Manufactures Midway will be located right in the middle of all the action, directly alongside the track and behind the grandstands. Each spot is aprox 15’x20’ and will include 4 Spectator Admission tickets.

We still would like to have a campout, but we haven't got the go ahead from the track. So it's on hold until we hear back.

There's a nice park over by the dam that MAY have over night camping...may. Renaissance pleasure faire is there and they camp out.

We met with track officials today, and so far everything is looking good. We also locked down the Monrovia Courtyard Marriott as a host Hotel and location for Saturday nights "Legends Mixer". Stay tuned, more info to come!
