Oh, you get alittle dirt. No way around it. Just have to pick your time of day. I usually do mornings. As I say this I sprayed the bottom this morning in some windy conditions and it came out pretty damn good.
I'm just lucky I guess. Thanks for the comments to. They keep me motivated.
Now I've got about a bizillion doors to do. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss |

Ben,
I was wondering, why you are painting the outside, when you still have floors to put in in the back? Mayby I missed it in the thread, and I don't mean to question your methods, I'm just trying to learn and understand. I see missing floors, engine cover interior panel and no tail lights. Is there a method I don't see or understand, or are you planning and respraying/touching up?
Thanks,

Aaron,
The inside is going to be gray, and I already put down some gray POR-15. I will go around one more time with some more POR-15. It will be done with a brush, so I won't worry about overspray. As for the floors, I'm doing something out of the ordinary since it has belly pans. I have some tougne-and-groove redwood planks I'm going to lay in there lenthwise. This is getting a camper interier to. Also, I just couldn't swing the thousand bucks for new floors right now. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss |

Ben, your bus is looking good! I want to know about the perimeter rollers (is that the word for the metal frames to roll it over, and work on the bottom etc) Did you buy these OR do you have plans/ measurements to build a set to restore my bus?
Any info would be GREAT!

For me, that right there ^^^^^ is the money shot. The reflection in the corner is fantastic! As in any other painting job, be it your house or car or whatever, preparation is 99% of the job. Nice, very nice work. And inspirational. I can't wait to see this thing on its wheels. So, hurry up! _________________ Founding member of

cru62,
Thanks for the comment. I'm pretty proud of that corner too. I didn't use any different metal in the bodywork process. Just some patches for the bigger bulletholes.
Mark19,
I bought these parimeter rollers from John Jones at KCW. They were made for a Barndoor bus, but I made some side plates for the front mount and they work perfect for both beam types now.
This is my last bus I'm going to restore, so I'm selling these again. I don't know where you are, but shipping them would be expensive. Maybe not as expensive as buying the steel and having them made. I've got six hundred dollars tied up in this set. John said he gave me a killer deal as he gave alot more than that for them. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss |

Played around today and put in the tail lights, safaris, and safari windshield wiper mechs. In the third pic you can see how bad I srewed up my paint by not mixing thuroghly enough when I painted inside the cab. White pigments are heavy and stay on the bottom unless you stir the crap out of your paint.

Used a ball remove/replace tool for American iron to push out the link pin sleeves on my spindles. Had to make a little push tool for the sleeves.
The tool I made for pushing out/in the old/new sleeves.
Finished process. Easy Peesy!

Put my front beam and lifted spindles in today. Need some tie rods and a new drag ink to button it up. Tomarrow I'm working on the back end.
Get it back on all fours.

Looking GREAT! Are all tires the same size? I like Scott's other Monster but I don't need any more projects now. I can't make it down today, I will call if I can make it Monday. _________________ Mark Reega

I doubt I'll make in time for Phoenix BOR. Front tires are 31" tall, backs are 32". I'll be available Monday if you can make it. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss |
