For the last week or so the site has been featuring pictures of gauges on the home page. Is it just me or is there some strange attraction for car enthusiasts to control gauges and panels? I love looking at car dash panels, controls and gauges. I have two favorite types: one is sports cars of the 20's and 30's with their exquisite clock-like instruments:
The other is late 50's / early 60's American cars with their space-ship-like controls:

I see them attracting folks the same way precise intruments like quality wristwatches and precision tools do (action, movement, design) I 'll bet you've got a pretty nice chronograph on right now.
Guages are, in another way, the only manner in which a car "communicates" with the driver. _________________

The picture caption said it's a 300F Special Gran Turismo. We can only hope the person who posted that picture knew what they were talking about. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

That's a practical place to put the Slow / Fast control on the clock. Easy to tell which way to turn it. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

It's not like GPS Erik, but using the short wave receiver (WWV signal) and the timers I can find out time and distance relative to set locations. It's like being in the right place at the right time. Here is a link that explains the basics very well:

Nice. There's a fine line between a clean look and the "JC Whitney catalog exploded in my front seat". _________________ I don't mind eccentric people i just don't care for shit heads.
