2-3 very light coats of Krylon primer, paint, & clear. We will see how it holds up.

Does anyone know what kind of rims those are? Or who the owner of that car is?

Thanks John

I decided to stay with the stock steelies instead of those weave type rims. Going to either sell them or use them on the wall for hoses.

Those gasburners look amazing!

Maybe you could answer this question - i have a 74 ghia and the axle pokes thru the rear rims a few inches (its stock) - for these wheels, how does the centercap fit on if it pokes out so much? I have steelies so the big hubcap covers but i dont know how you did it on these gasburners?

You guys call the 4 bolt 914 Mahle rims "Gasburners"? Most 914 guys call "gasburners" only the 914/6 5 bolt rims that....
Nice job of restoring those rims, very nice although I prefer them stock silver.

Got a set of 15" 911 Fuchs or 914 2.0L Fuchs to put on my Ghia..

I'm not positive but pretty sure those wheels on geezerghia's car are not original Mahle "baby" burners (what I think you are refering to). Baby burners were installed on Porsche 914s. The rims on geezerghia's car look to be 4 lug replicas of original 5 lug Porsche "Gas burners".
Correct me if i'm wrong. -Laurence.

I took mine to a machine shop. Not sure but i believe they use a lathe. My shop was familiar with what needed to be done as soon as i told them what i wanted to do, they are a long time aircooled vw shop.

Depends on the look you are after. For a custom 17"+ (just my opinion)

Let me add if you go bigger then 15" wheels the car must remain low to look good. If you have to raise it to fit the wheels downsize.
