Until the Diamondbacks start sprinkling in a few proven/consistent 300 hitters into the lineup I refuse to believe they will get anywhere beyond a wildcard. Brandon Webb or Dan Herron, W/ Mark Reynolds, Connor Jackson, Justin Upton, Chris Young. I had to laugh the 1st time I went to a Diamondbacks game and saw what everyone was getting worked up over. Feast Or Famine isnt going to get it done Exclamation

Judge Grants Lenny Dykstra’s Request To Attend Gary Carter Memorial

NEW YORK (WFAN) – Lenny Dykstra “desperately” wants to be present at Friday night’s memorial for former Mets teammate Gary Carter, according to TMZ.com.

The problem? He’s under house arrest in California.

TMZ reported Friday that after “begging” a judge to let him attend, Dykstra was granted permission to cross state lines for the service at Christ Fellowship Church in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Who cares? I like Pujols as a ball player...he's awesome, but he turned down 200 million for 10 years? F**k him, let him go play for the Yankees and he and A-rod can can argue over who makes more and the size of their dicks. Give Berkman and Freese a pay raise. Greedy bastards.
Bro, Its a business decision. It works both ways NOW. Teams suck you up and spit you out when they think you are washed-up ala Babe Ruth, Joe Montana, etc, etc etc etc. How much did it cost the Diamonbacks to hold on to an injured Brandon Webb? What do you think the Colts are going to do if if Peyton is not healthy? If you put your emotions aside you will realize it is strictly business.... I applaud the Lebrons' and the Pujols'...
For all those that hate on players for not being loyal and greedy. Well do you also hate on owners for not being loyal and greedy.... Ill leave you guys with a quote from the great Babe Ruths widow.. This is from the book "The Mick" by Mickey Mantle...pg151 parag5-6: " I remembered a conversation with Claire Ruth during an old-timers game. Mrs Ruth set me straight. Get what you can while you're on top. When it came down to dollars, Mickey, they handed him the pink slip. Two lousy lines notifying him that he was unconditionally released. I never understood it. He was the greatest drawing card in the history of baseball and owner Jake Ruppert tossed him aside like an old shoe"........ And people still hating on Lebron, Ay dios mio Rolling Eyes Player or owner, baseball, football or basketball it doesnt make a difference, Its strictly business, strictly business...

Quote:
PORT CHARLOTTE — If nothing else, Rays pitcher David Price might have cleaned up in the race for oddest injury of the spring.

Price was forced to leave Thursday's game with a neck spasm after toweling himself off too vigorously.

Seriously.

Call it over-toweling.

Price claimed he was simply drying his head in the dugout after his second inning against the Tigers and, well, let's just let him tell it.

"The towel just catches the back of my head, and it pulls my neck forward," he said. "I just felt it a little bit in back of my neck and just wanted to be cautious with it.

"There's a little pop, and it just spasms up and gets a little tight."

Just sayin'......

Quote:
On March, 1989, Buffalo’s Clint Malarchuk suffered one of the visually most gruesome injuries the sport has ever seen. Steve Tuttle of the St. Louis Blues and the Sabre’s Uwe Krupp collided near Malarchuk’s goal crease, and Tuttle’s skate caught Malarchuk on the neck, slicing open his external carotid artery. With pools of blood filling virtually the entirety of the goal crease, Malarchuk somehow left the ice under his own power with the assistance of the Sabres’ team trainer. Many in the Buffalo arena were physically sickened by the sight, with seven fainting and two suffering heart attacks.

Television cameras covering the game instantly cut away from the sight of Malarchuk. Malarchuk spent only one night in the hospital, and was back on the ice with his team two weeks later

Hockey players are the hardest working and toughest athletes period. yeah yeah I know you're going to say Football, but give me a break they play once a week.

I can see how a hangnail on someones pitching hand would make a drastic difference in their game because everything has to be so concise. But a neck spasm? doesn't that just go away in a few minutes?

Mets win one... off the field.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/20/sports/baseball/mets-on-upswing-after-madoff-settlement.html
Quote:
The settlement between the owners of the Mets and the trustee representing the victims of the fraud orchestrated by Bernard L. Madoff ends a rancorous legal fight between two parties that were willing to dig in their heels and openly point fingers.

But in a twist, the former adversaries are now on the same side. That is because the settlement calls for Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, the Mets’ owners, to receive $178 million from the trustee for money they lost in some of their Madoff accounts. That money will be used to pay back the trustee to cover the $162 million in fictitious profits that Wilpon and Katz received in other accounts.

He'll never be the same if he comes back. That is just a devastating injury.

Maybe the next 275 pound man will think twice before jumping on a trampoline while rehabbing another injury. What if he had fallen and landed on his arm. If I had been lucky enough to make the pros in a sport I would hope I would think twice before doing anything to jeopardize my fortune.
