me too!!! I know 66 didn't og come with ragtops...but it was for sale and i couldn't resist. it needs some work. I tore down the front header and fabricated a new headliner holder strip. its missing one of the spring steel strips, so I am looking for some spring steel to replace it.

Looking forward to watching this one come together. I have a 66 also that is in pieces right now. Good progress so far. I am in the process of replacing both pan halves myself with the body off.

I have a '66 I'm in the process of replacing both pans and removing the body as well. Does anyone know why all fenders & hood are usually taken off for a pan-off? Is it just easier to work with when removing from the pan or is it a "less weight" issue?

I would say less weight..oh, and it keeps you from crushing a fender if you pull the body off and drop it...also less cumbersome and easier to access the body to pan bolts in the wheel wells. I actually unbolted my body and ROLLED it off on it's side since I was without help to lift it off. It was easy after a few hard pushes... Rolling Eyes

I've been making a bit of progress...

received the top of the header bow for the ragtop...got it blaster and fabbed a new end for it....primed it today.

there were 4 bolts that snapped off when removing the screws of the aluminum rails of the ragtop...so I cut open the boxed areas, replaced the nuts and closed it back up again. also fabbed new strips that hold the headliner on and welded those on as well.

sportin, typically I take the fenders and hood off because I'm doing a resto of the whole car. about to work on a customers 56. IF I'M JUST DOING PANS....I have horses that I made. I unbolt the body, etc etc and lift the front and have somebody slide the horse under and then go to the back....horses are 3 feet high, 6 feet wide. Your still taking up one car space and the body is high enough off the chasis to do the work!

ALMOST FORGOT....GOT MY RAGTOP IN THE MAIL TODAY FROM JBUGS. I WANTED GREY, BUT SINCE THEY DON'T MAKE THAT ANYMORE I ORDERED WHITE AND AM GOING TO DYE IT. USING THE RAGTOP, I'M GOING TO SPACE OUT THE NEW CROSS PIECE I MADE FOR THE FRONT BOW AND RIVIT IT TOGETHER LIKE THE FACTORY DID
