Was able to dial carbs in and readust valves. She is ready to go back in the bus. It was a good day. The new motor sounds pretty mean without a muffler Motor revs up and idles down sounds great. |

Now I have to figure out the settings on my welder to make a really nice puddle weld. |
Just curious, is the next step to take a drill bit and through each hole you make a clean spot on the painted cross member below? I assume that would be needed to make the weld stick. I honestly would like to know, as I can see myself doing something similar in the future. _________________

I don't think you would need to use a drill bit in each hole but rather run a grinder with a flap disc across the supports before putting the floor down for final welding. It would be much easier. Also you could spray it with some weldable primer to try and keep rust from reappearing.
Good Luck! |

Actually guys I taped off all the areas I needed to weld to before I sprayed the epoxy... so I'm welding straight to clean blasted metal. It's just hard to see because I use gray epoxy!
Took a little more time this way but I think for me it's better.
I'll post a couple pics when I complete the welds, easy-peasy so far on the first half! _________________ '67 21 Deluxe, Ollie

Any concerns of future moisture and rust issues in that area since it's not covered with paint? _________________

I tried weld-thru primer once & had no luck whatsoever. I'll try to get some rustoleum in the cracks for good measure.
In the grand scheme of things, it's a belly pan bus that already has a garage waiting for it! Lol! _________________ '67 21 Deluxe, Ollie

| Had a fuse blow out on the blinker circuit. After tracing wires, multiple blown fuses and scratching my head (and a few curse words), I found that the bracket that holds the tail light assembly (on my 57 panel) was grounding out on the light terminal where the wire attaches to the tail light assembly, barely. A few hours later and a small adjustment and now my lights, blinkers and turn signals work once again. Those types of small things can drive a person mad! All in all, a good day working on the bus. |

Everything went pretty well with the welding, I was hoping to keep them a little lower than this but I don't think they will fail.
This is the best I could do that particular day.
Hey Pete I dug this out of my junkpile... (no drooling, you'll short out your keyboard)

Just got back from welding the safari brackets on my '59. Now I have to weld up that gas gauge hole on the dash.

Nice work Jerry. You got some grinding to do now - so how many holes does it take to fill Albert Square?
Haven't seen one of those cherry bombs since I was in highschool - it would go well with my thunderbird headers _________________ '62 15 Window in need of a good home

You'll have to buy at least 3 of them before you get the job done. I've spent more time returning and exchanging POS HF tools than I have actually using them. _________________ '62 15 Window in need of a good home

| Pulled the rear hatch off (more like it fell off - the decklid hinge carrier was nothing but bondo!) my DC to get to the hinges. They are rusted on solid. Time for some massive soaking in PB Blaster! |

Wrong! Any day driving a bus to work is expectacular! I drove my bug to work today, and got no fewer than 20 people waving. Can't wait until I'm able to drive my bus to work! |

Not so much what I did to it today, but rather that I have the single cab in the capable hands of the South Philly Van Club to get some much needed metal work done! _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.
