|
|
After years of hearing how much we hate our cars' previous owners, maybe it's time to recognize some smarts on their parts. What are the best modifications done to your car by your car's previous owner?
For my '73 Super, the PO put a light in the trunk. Best idea he's ever had! I just hooked it back up, and it will be so useful in the dark when I'm either working in the trunk or putting stuff in it.
As far as this sort of thread previously, I did a search but didn't find anything. If I'm wrong, feel free to point it out to me!
So what about your cars and their POs? _________________ 1973 Super Beetle from the junkyard--engine waiting for install!

A 50 gallon drum of undercoating (barely an exaggeration) was sprayed all over the underside of my Oval in the early 80's in New Zealand.
It's going to suck getting it off, but it saved the life of the car without a doubt. _________________ 55 RHD CKD Käfer

Mine is the best and worst. The brand new long block 1600DP that was installed but never ran. Just wish they would have saved the 1500SP _________________ Fatchicks: Daily drivers, donor cars, collectibles. What can't they do? |

The PO of my bug installed a lace-up vinyl steering wheel way back in the day. When I cut it off- it revealed a virtual time capsule- preserving one of the finest beetle steering wheels I ever laid eyes on! _________________

| Mine didn't do anything but maintain it and I got a complete original car. |

The P/O cut the roof off an otherwise original paint, rust-free car. This has since been rectified. _________________

Nice, made my afternoon
My P.O. cut access holes in the body and tunnel, then patched over them with pieces of a Pennzoil box sealed with RTV. Genius.
Also installed 2 horns and drove the car in shriner's parades from what I have been told. |

Eliminates wind noise. People who have roof racks complain of a roar as the wind passes between the rack and the roof of the car. I've never heard it. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

My buses' PO epoxied black carpet onto every oirg. panel in the bus, tore out the headliner, then covered EVERYTHING in undercoating.... Interior roof, airbox, dash and whole cab area, all areas around the windows where the headliner was, etc. ... among many other quality, custom features. |
