Has anyone tried to shorten chromoly pushrods that were purchased already cut and assembled to length from CB performance?

it depends on how much they need shortning.if you have a lathe you can cut them down almost to the id and pull the ends out if there is enough room.but dont cut into the end shank.

Once cut I could press them until they seat again. Or use a type of soft mallet maybe?

Unless you need to cut them down a lot (.250"~) you are probably going to have a hard time getting the old tips out using the undercut method. Those tips are pressed in there pretty tight.

I use two old lifters one as a base (on anvil or solid steel object) and one as a protector from hammer blows with a real "steel" hammer..... Soft mallet is not going to be much help...

sure just watch I dont bend them. I have machining skills, suppose I machine them as discussed earlier ,then file the rest of the tube to the OD of the insert. Without taking it out , just push it till it bottoms. Being carefull not to damage the insert OD badly other than light file marks. Maybe

Not sure about CroMo's but with stock pr's you can pein them just slightly around the circumference just below the end and the will eventually work loose

After figuring out exactly how long they needed to be (didn't want to do it twice), I used a fiber reinforced cutoff wheel in a dremel.

Marked the location of the cut line with tape and with the rod clamped in a vice carefully cut deeper at the line until through the wall. Nibbled out a line to the underside of the tip then used the corner of a chisel to spread the ring enough to fall off.

Tapped the end in between two old lifters.

Great. You see I got some CB 044 mags that have CR's lower than I want. Cutting them down is going to make my Push Rods long. As is they are a little long due to the swivel feet.

Thanks everybody, hoping it was not to difficult to modify for what I will have to do.
