I don't know if creating the worst (therefore the best) Volkswagen (sort of) in history is an accolade I would step forward to accept. Perhaps certain things should remain shrouded in mystery.
On the other hand, the creator might be enticed if we offered a 7-foot car show trophy. (Or better yet, a silver-plated snorkel.) |
I remember the first time i got a 7 foot trophy... _________________ 1967 Bug:

If you guys are serious about tracing the history and/or past owners of this, ummmm... car... then why not make it go "viral" within the online car community?
Make posts or send emails (with lots of pictures) to Hot VW's, Jalopnik, Car and Driver, Autoweek, Jay Leno's Garage, Hemming's and such. I am sure that they would enjoy the pictures of the ummmm... car... and someone out there will have old pics or will know someone who used to own it. As visually stunning as the car is, I see no reason why it wouldn't be picked up as a story by any media outlet.
Make the SnorkelStang the next cool Internet "meme" with all the hipsters and online nerds. The photoshop pics are hilarious and if it gets spread outside of The Samba, like with the t-shirts, it could take off and have a life of it's own. Replace any Chuck Norris joke with SnorkelStang and there you have it!
Just my 2¢ worth of marketing advice...

Snorkelstang has only had 4 caretakers since the build and amrcnbadaz is checking with George's nephew to get his whereabouts. I believe it is either NY or Pennsylvania.
I'm betting it is New York as there have been a couple of wild looking rides show up for sale in the NY area.

Maybe we need an E-marketing coordinator to grab the reins and make it happen.

snorkelstang is way ugly. so ugly he's cute lol. like me. but I have to say that although snorkelstang is probably the most awful abortion in ACVW history, he still has more class than stupid herbie. stupid herbie has been copied so many times its pathetic. (think GENERAL LEE, KITT OR SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. and IMO, snorkelstang is so over the top that there can only ever be one. snorkelstang is and should always be the CHUCK NORRIS of our hobby.... You can thank "stupid Herbie" for getting a lot of us hooked on VWs in the first place. |

I'm going to walk into Value Village 20 years from now and get a great deal on some lightly used Snorklestang tees... _________________ -Austin

Ahhhhh, it seems that the memes have begun...
Maybe the t-shirts could be sold through one of the online t-shirt companies? Snorgtees or places like that? There are lots of them always popping up in online ads.
Whatever it takes to get the SnorkelStang back on the road! _________________ Alex
