I am want to install an ashtray in my 1970 ghia..i know the best way is to have them riveted but it seems that part of the black lower dash extends part way under the dash to where the ashray is to sit flush. Am i suppose to cut part of the dash tho fit the bracket so that it can sit flat for riveting?
any help or pic would be great...thanks

I just removed one from a parts car. It was screwed down, not riveted. The lower dash pad has an indentation for the ash tray. Two of the screws were through the pad, two were not. See photos

the picture shown with the hand pops loose at that end and has a plastic ball hinge at the other end. the ball hinge is fragile and breaks easily, don't ask me how I know!
