The Type 3 hoods all appear to be early (pre-'70). Not sure about the doors, I'd need to see the other side (z-style armrests, for instance). Other folks might be able to cue in on details I'm not good at (mirror style, lock position).
I like that '76 license plate, is that an Iowa plate? _________________ Fastback owner and unrepentant

What you want for that fresh air scoop, on the rust colored hood in the center of this pic.
And how about A nice matched set of the 1968-73 bumper over riders,, the ones on the bumper with the 1970 only reflector dont look like thy match? but the set on the bumper behind it look ok?

Okay I went out there today to start working on the other shed. I did not get very far with it and I have just a few other pictures to show.
Found this on the floor:
What year does the white one belong, what does the red one go to?
What year does this go to?
And this one:
I know this is a bad picture but I could hardly get to the dang thing. What does this motor go to? Type 2 or 3?
Last but not least what on earth does this go to? The case is totally unfamiliar:

The red ashtray is for a '66-'67 type 3. The engine with the rubber boot is a fuel injected type 3 engine used from '68 and up. _________________ Cancer, You have claimed another beautiful life, but You will be defeated....

Today did not go as planned at all. I left my camera's memory card in my computer so I was stuck taking pictures with my cell phone(sorry for the quality). Also, the shed I am working on now is full of all sorts of smaller parts and they are everywhere. I spent all day sorting out one shelf and some floor space to move around a little easier.
One before shot. This is an old photo and the angle doesn't do the mess justice.
The big box was packed full of headlights and under it were smaller boxes and a large mouse nest(without mice thank god). A lot of stuff was organized in boxes and they had all deteriorated letting stuff drop everywhere.
After:
Just messing with the bottom three shelves and the floor around it took nearly all day.
So much stuff was leaning onto this shelf I couldn't access the lower portion but I got most all of it cleaned and out of the way.
I got most all of the transaxles that were in the middle of the floor lined up against the remaining wall, and some boxes up on the shelving.
I know this is a pretty lame update, but I figured I would post it anyways. At this rate it is going to take me months just to clear this out. _________________

For the moment I am not selling anything beyond what I will be posting in the classifieds. I am going to post an unholy amount of pictures and if you have any input on value or tips on how to best sell these items I am all ears. I have still not gone through everything. I have not dug into any of the tubs, only taken pictures of stuff on the surface. This is an overwhelming task just to see what the hell it is I have. Now for pictures.
Beetle 1. This beetle has many good parts that I plan on using for other beetles. The pans and rear is totally rotten:
Beetle 2:
Beetle 3:
Beetle 4:
Beetle 5:
Beetle 6:
Beetle 7:
Beetle 8:
Beetle 9:
Beetle 10:
Beetle 11 damage to the roof:
Beetle 12:
The rest of the photos is just gobs of parts. There is even more stuff I haven't got photographed because they are buried by other parts, in a wasp infested school bus, or in a mouse infested grain bin.
This drawer is about 12" deep full of gaskets:
And I thought I had already grabbed all the carbs. I am told there are even more elsewhere:
There are heads in buckets, heads on the ground, heads in buses, on shelves, ALL AROUND!:
This is a stack of pop-outs and there are even more in the building:
Some of this is volkswagen related and some of it isn't:
There is trim hanging from the rafters and on the walls:
A whole tub of pedal assemblies:
Last but not least a 4 tab hood. I was wondering the value of this. I tried my best to use the reflection of the light to show you the dips and dings:
Like I said before, any advise would be amazing. I am in over my head at this point in time. _________________

| What a big job you've just taken on. I hope you're passioniate about volkswagens because you're not going to make any money if you consider your time worth anything. I see a lot of $5-$20 parts that will make a new owner very happy, but will require a lot of time for you to actually sell. You need a game plan on how to handle all this stuff. Without knowing the details on your deal it's tough to give you advice, but I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd find someone with decent vw knowledge, that I trust, and have them help determine what's worth saving and what should simply be sent to the scrap yard asap. Once you've hauled off the scrap, you can focus on the best method to liquidate what's left. I'd then focus on selling stuff fast and cheap rather than trying to get full retail for everything. If you try to sell for full retail, you'll still have most of this stuff 10 years from now. |

Excellent advise. What's the story on the early buses? |

I appreciate the advise and it will definitely be on my mind in all this. I have the previous owner helping me out with some of this but he has been out of the game for a long time. Now on to the buses. I have five of them, 2 bays and 3 splits, and they were part of the deal and they are also full of stuff. It was just getting so late and I didn't want to have to deal with resizing all the pictures last night. I can post more tonight when I have the time though. _________________

| With a stash this large a lot of local vw guys already know about it. What they don't know (yet) is that it now belongs to someone that's ready to sale. I think having the buddy that gathered this stuff help you is a mistake. All the hoarders I've ever dealt with find it almost impossible to let go of their treasures, even when said treasures are scrap iron. I'm afraid it will cause a lot of tension between you when he sees all his stuff getting hauled off....guess who he'll blame? |

I would definitely watch!

I thought that too, until I saw that the doors have blue paint on the edges. If it were original paint, I'd love to have it. _________________ Brain Trust member #13
