After closer inspection I found this port welded closed on one of the heads.
If I remember correctly it's something for FI. Head temp sensor mb?

I guess that answers my question about FI for now.

Otherwise I think the bus itself has the FI tubes on the fuel tank, along with whatever the lines are that runs up the side corners of the bus. Figuring out what to do with those is on my list of things to do. I'm pretty sure the bus was set up for FI originally. In fact it also had air conditioning. You can part of it sticking out under the bottom.

You're right thewalrus, the bus is not of US origin, it was originally purchased in Germany and somehow brought to the states. From what I understand the couple that owned it was traveling around the states and it caught fire on I-10 outside our town (what a heartbreak). I have the original german plates and it has some other cool things, I'll post more pics soon.[/img]

the head temp sensor hole is clear
and even if it was welded you would still be able to do fi

the cost of fi.....
your looking at $300-$500 in good used parts
and another $200-$400 in new parts,gaskets,fuel line,etc....

you could buy a fi system for $100-$300
then spend a few extra $$$ to replace
bad or missing parts

if your willing to go fi
& want something thats "turn key"
i will help you put together a fi system
used parts that have been cleaned & tested along with some
new/rebuilt parts like injectors

ill give you the harness,afm,brain,sensors,etc........
and a list of all the new stuff youll need like
intake boots,fi rated fuel line,& o-rings for the injectors

plan on spending around $750

Mine too, you'll spend at least that on carbs (more for the good ones) and still be tweaking them a year from now. Unless you've got some specific performance ambitions and have modified other engine components already the FI is the best bolt on system you'll find and once it's set you leave it alone and drive.

Yea I think that sound like the best plan. I do have the weber progressive to use till I get it all figured out

I think I'll hold off on updating the carbs till I get some of the other things worked out. Lots to do.

I've started a project thread finally. You can find it here.
