from the searching that i've done....to replace a split case with a tunnel trans, you ahve to have a split bus nose cone and hockey stick.
hopefully someone will tell me i'm an idiot or explain why this is cause i just don't see it, and am currently in the same boat as you (perhaps not as deep as you, mine is just a roller right now so stock trans is fine) _________________ 59 mignonette "Lola" see it's build thread:

oh....good find! I would love to see a picture of how that looks when it's done. I just can't visualize it. The mount I have now is weird. It's stock, but I've never seen the '60 only front mount before now.....WTH.....
I did notice, however, that it states that it is for the '59 and earlier bugs.....somewhat weird that they leave out the '60 model year for some reason. |
The 60 mount is one all by itself _________________ 58 Beetle (now just a pile of parts in the corner)

just from the experience i had in m y 58 bus with solid mounts....i think i'd buy a bus nose cone instead. _________________ 59 mignonette "Lola" see it's build thread:

My bug had the split case tranny in it when I got it. I just cut the old one out and switched it with a later mount. Not too hard but I also had another car that I was using for parts. _________________ '60 Euro bug

'60 is one year only, and the trick with a <'59 bus nose cone and hockey stick will not work. I'd double check the VIN to make sure you don't have the '59 or '61 configuration.
I do not remember off hand, which dimension is different on the '60. However, I do believe it is a one year only front bracket and nose cone. A transmission shop like Rancho, should be able to answer the question for you.
One option may be to install a later bracket to the torsion housing, and use a late model mount and nose cone.

This is the easiest method. Otherwise, you have to buy all the parts and redrill the stick....My vert is a 60 and I know all about this mount. I use it on mine for a later tranny. I MIGHT can get pictures of it installed, but the weather is bad here right now so it might be a while.

X2
60 only items
front trans mount
nose cone
angle of frame horns
inner apron structure
oil dip stick
Ive owned several 60s and the weld on mount is the easiest. Lets you use the easy to find 61 up nose cone and stick AND mount. |

I posted the link to the correct part in my earlier post, but you bought a part listed for 59 and earlier? Oh well. In this case, 60 only really does mean 60 only. Ive done this multiple times. If you want the easiest method, then follow my advice. If you want to change tranny parts and spend more, then buy the nose cone. _________________ 57 Horizon Blue Oval
