So, I've seen alot of posts re: shipping TO the UK. I'm interested in shipping FROM the UK. I am looking to purchase an Eriba (Puck, Faun, Pan, or Familia) caravan within the next few weeks. Eribas seems to be much more available in the UK--and, as I'm on the East Coast, purchasing from the UK may be an option. Can anyone give any cost information for shipping an Eriba caravan from the UK--probably containerized, to New York, New Jersey, Philly, or Baltimore?

Sounds like you can do 'roll on-roll off' which makes it much cheaper.
I was researching an older car, a DKW to do this with, but the deal fell through.
In researching, I came across this company, I make NO claims as to their service, since I did not purchase the car, but they seem on the up and up:
http://www.kingstown-shipping.co.uk/
I asked them for a quotation to the PNW and they replied promptly. The business is tailored for USA export, but since the boat is empty on the way over, they naturally do UK export as well.
Here are their shipping routes, and they do include Newark, Baltimore

| So, I'm busy trying to set-up shipping (importation) of a vinatge Eriba trailer from the UK into the US. I've gotten several reasonable quotes, but not sure how to handle customs/duties/fed taxes, etc. Do the shipping companies handle this? Does anyone have any experience with this--I'm pretty stymied at this point? Kathleen |

Anybody knows/recommends a company that can ship a bug (very good condition), from South America (Buenos Aires, Argentina) to the closest port to Philadelphia (PA)?
The car can be picked up and dropped off at the respective sea ports, which I think may facilitate the logistic.
Thanks in advance!

your shipping company should be able to handle that all for you and give you a breakdown of fees, if not find another company _________________ (0\!/0)

Hi Valentino,
I could not find online information about this company. Do you have some real experience with them, or just a quote? The only company that shows up when googling is "AAA Transporters", owned or managed (I do not know) by Chris Delaney, which only does domestic shipping.
Thanks!

Official Auto Transport… I’m not telling you not to use this company; I’m just sharing my very negative experience with them. I will NEVER use or recommend them ever again!! About 4 weeks ago I did an internet search and got back 4-5 quotes I didn’t get the most expensive or the cheapest, I went in the middle… Hence official Auto Transport (Big mistake). so after my new Single Cab kept getting delayed, the guy Devin kept BS’ing me, I called about every other day, and he said every time “I’ll call driver right now and get back to you in a few minutes”… in 3-4 weeks of dialog… he NEVER, not once called me back or the seller… I was always the one calling… he always had an excuse why it was not picked up. And towards the end someone in the office just kept saying “he’s not in, I’ll have him call you back” so after one more week of that I told them not to worry about calling me back just cancel job… then the guy on the phone tells me “the truck went to address yesterday but could not access the property” (LMFAO)… I called seller; no one has ever showed up or called him… his property is very accessible… So there you have it.. You make an informed decision... Oh the truck is in VA, need to get it to TX, I contacted Joe from this thread, he’s going to help me get it home... I’m just glad I have a very patient seller… _________________ 57' SC "Hoss" 1776cc (his)

My wife and I are trying to get a non-op Squareback from northern MN to either NYC or nearby suburbs.
We've looked in a few places:
-Uship doesn't "feel" right as there's potential for losing money through their deposit/cancellation set up
-Transportreviews.com is a joke. Every company on it has a 5 star review and they allow the shipping companies to sponsor the site.
-Going to online broker places fills my inbox and voicemail within a day with offers ranging from a very cheap $700 to a very expensive $1600 and it's hard to tell who and what to trust.
Anyone have any insight into what a good approach to the situation is? Better yet, is anyone a guy/gal with a truck and a dolly looking to make some $$? |

My wife already did. Just wanted to see what else was out there. Can't imagine that calling one guy is the only way to ship a car. |

I found them earlier on this thread, but just had my '67 shipped from NC to WA using Kiwi. Enclosed transport, they had it picked up within a few days and had it back here within a week of picking it up. Good people all around, and cost was reasonable as well.
I found the same thing with TransportReviews that others are noting - I think it's a sham. And any broker that has 5 "sister" companies I also think is a sham. (you'll know who I'm talking about when you submit a quote and start getting 5 different companies calling you back with a quote..) _________________ Marius Strom http://www.marius.org/

Wound up using Uship. It seems hit or miss. I quickly received bids from several of the major transport companies....the ones that hound you with voicemails and emails I also received a bid from a guy with a dually who runs his small business with his wife. My car was picked up on Monday night in rural MN and will be to me in NY on Friday. Updates and photos have been given along the way. Name: For His Glory Transport.
Uship advice: don't use the "set a price" option on Uship. Instead, leave it as an auction....that way you don't pay anything up front. Review incoming bids and look for small companies/one-man operations who might happen to be making a run through the areas you need serviced. Read the reviews of the bidders and make an informed decision. If you don't like the results, use a shipping company or wait a few days and try again.
CLASSIC CAR GUY feedback: My wife called him on 5/18 and he was out of town and said she should call him back on Monday 5/21. She called him and he told her to email him all the details about the car and the pick-up/drop-off locations. He said he'd send a confirmation email that night. As of today, 5/31 we STILL don't have a confirmation email. She called him on Wednesday 5/23 just to see if he got the info. He said he got the info and was working on getting our car shipped but that shipping is slow this time of year and he'd be in touch. As of today, he hasn't called us or emailed us one single time.
Getting a non-op Squareback shipped from rural MN to NY might not be easy or fun to arrange...in fact it just might be a pain in the ass, and if Joe had said "sorry I'd love to help but I don't know anyone who'd do that route/ship a non-op vintage car/I'm too busy to help/I'm not interested/etc." we'd feel differently.
I'm not saying Joe's a bad guy or that he did us wrong and it seems like some people have had a good experience with him. But to read his posts on this forum, you'd think that helping Samba folks ship their VW's was practically his second job....or at least something he enjoyed doing. As recently as 4/27 Joe was on here talking about how much he loves to help out and after realizing the shipping world is full of sharks, we would have loved his help.
Based on the PR of his posts and reviews in this forum, I expected he'd be on it and that even if he couldn't help or if he was extra busy he'd say so or have a referral but we wound up with NOTHING from him....not even an email or a phone call....and on top of it managed to lose a few days when we could have been arranging shipping with someone else. What a drag. |

I am having the hardest time finding someone to pick up a car from Newton Nj and bring it to Reno Nv for $1400-$1600
Car is a non running falcon wagon. Rolls, steers and stops fine. _________________ Click to view image |
