I am planning on dding my buggy this summer,it has a stock single port 1500 and offroad exhaust on it I am running 235 /15 rear tires what kind of fuel economy can I expect? I hypothesized that the less than steller aerodynamics would make up for it being a few hundred pounds lighter. _________________ 68 cal look

I've the same setup in my Sterling; I figure the weight of the body would equal your lack of aerodynamics.. on the highway I average around 32, around town 23-25. _________________ www.nationalsterling.org

Even with the price of gas.... Who cares about mileage....Its "the ride"....

With the original 1915cc engine, Kathleen's Manxter (with the surfboard on top) used to get @ 25 MPG on the open road. The Subaru gets @ 21 MPG (but is a whole lot more fun). Tom _________________ Manxter #16, 1962 Manx & Kick-Out SS #16 (WIP)

If tuned correctly there is no reason you can't gvet 30+ MPG. _________________ 2010 Sportsman ET Champion - Mid-America Dragway - Arkansas City, KS

| I would add "and if you keep your foot out of it" to "properly tuned". I seem incapable of the former, so about as good as I get is low to mid 20s with a dual carb 1776. |

Yeah, same here. I get just as bad or worse mileage than Tom & Kathleen. _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

21mpg? My 1999 Outback wagon gets 29mpg on the highway. Granted, it's not nearly as fast or as fun. _________________ Jerry...

I have seen 30 mpg (highway) from a 2110 turbo in a Manx. He is running CB performance 48mm T/B's with a Megasquirt ECU. _________________ Jerry...

I have a reason. I drive my buggy all over the desert southwest. When I do, it's loaded down with a couple hundred pounds of camping gear, water, and extra gas. The roof rack is piled high, adding to the aerodynamic problems. The sandy desert trails use up a lot of power and fuel, as do the 6% grades I have to climb while driving into a 40+ MPG headwind. I get about 19-20 MPG with my stock carb/cam 1776, which is the same as I got with the stock carb/cam 1600, only now I get to go faster up the hills. Whevener you talk about mileage, remember that Your Results May Vary. The most important thing for me is to know what my mileage REALLY is so I can plan to get to a gas station before the thing runs out of gas and I die.
