Get some meaty tires, a nice roof rack, and some auxiliary lights and you'll be looking fine....
I just wish my garage were big enough to fit such modifications Sad

Found a cool picture:

This is my old 72! I miss that thing (don't miss the rust though) so I got another 72 and i'm working on it right now..

I want to use 235/75/15 on the back and 215/75/15 on the front, but I don't want to cut anything like I had to do on the red one, so Ill have to use different wheels, these have too much offset.

On the front, adjusters and raised spindles from wagenswest. On the back, flipped drop plates, Empi type 2 off road CV axles and 091 gearbox.

Should be fun!

Thought I'd post a photo here for posterity.
Tires are interco Bias ply 7.00x15 on Split bus 15" rims. They fit with more than enough room in the rear and the fronts seem fine, but the dog legs are a bit tweaked from years of previous owners.

Truck has bug coil over shocks in the front on a late bay beam and the rear is up a couple inches via torsion reindexing. I didn't do that work so I'm not sure on the specifics. It rides pretty nice on the highway and doesn't take too much to get moving with the fresh 1776 and 002 transmission.

I haven't taken it offroad yet as I'm still sorting out the carbs. I'd like to thrash it a bit before I start fixing that ugly nose!

Little up date, test fitting 235/75/15 on Mercedes wheels. Fits tight on the back, but it works, i'm still waiting on thé lifted spindles, they are sitting in customs clearance.. Evil or Very Mad

roland, are you using Chrome? If so, update it. I saw the accented e there.

What are the MB rims off? I have been searching high and low for years for a set of 15" steelies. I have a set but they are from a Vito. Totally unusable because of their offset. I mean they'd be fine of you didn't care about rubbing up back, or being able to steer.

it'd cost me $180 each to get my stock 14s re-rimmed to 15s so that's not going to happen. Don't want to wreck OE rims anyway.

BFGs and other such tyres I discovered just aren't available here in any real way so it's only commercials that are available to me in 14". i know, there's a thread for that. I just want to know what the wheels are from though.

look for the spare tire rim off newer mercedes, they coming in 16s i think, or 15s, and they are aluminum, and about 6 inches wide...well within specs, and lightweight.

Longer studs needed or do they have those steel (or whatever) inserts for the lugs?

Unless the WA in your location pertains to Western Australia that's a call I'm not going to make. But I will see what I can find online. Thanks for the heads up.

Not chrome but an iOS device and my mother tongue is french, so the corrector puts thé instead of the if i'm not careful.. Wink

I believe these wheels come from a 90's Mercedes 190. They are similar to the second ones on this page: http://www.originalwheels.com/mercedes-wheels/1901992rims.php

Didn't know they were on fb. I'll look there. Thanks!

Thankyou for the link, roland. It has some key information. All of my searching only ever yielded 14" MB rims because I didn't really know what I was after. Except for the Vito rims which have a ridiculous offset. Now I have a model. thanks.

fitted the raised spindles on my westy.

Tire is 235/75/15 and seems the right size to me but the mercedes wheel, 6.5 ET 49 hits the arm and the balljoint on the inside so i'll have to narrow the wheels to 5.5 to get that to fit I guess..
