HI,
Reaching out here on the forum. Can't get the window properly.
When its parallell to the b-pillar its hitting the A-pillar before it reaches the
top bow.
Also I noticed with the new door seals install it seams you have have to close the doors with the windows down a bit and the role them up under the lip.

Any advice what to do here?

Hi Udo,

Did you get my mail I sent you some time ago ?

Windows looks original. Same marking on all at least. Q-windows don't seam to be out anytime but I can be wrong. A measure where the b-billar should be along the car could help.

Regards

Jesper

Hi,

I got some pages of the manual from The Online Karmann Ghia Resources http://www.type-14.com/ which has some guidlines of how to install the window.

Might be of some help, posted the pages in dropbox.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32261564/Window%20Installation.pdf

Did you adjust the hight as stated on page A-63 6 of this manual?
And then correct as described in the section side-adjustment?

Good luck, Gerard

I assume yes. Although I can't pull the window more back unless I make
the holes wider in the carrier. I might put the old roof seal back to try. Its more of sponge type, not with the lip as the new one. But I can't
use it since in bad shape.

I might also try to make a template from another Ghia of the A-pillar/ roofline to see if its correct as another idea.

@boinkffd
If you find the rootcause please let me know.

Hello Udo,

As far as I know they are all OG parts. I don't have the history if anyone changed parts on it. But from what I can tell based on trace they are OG.
I did not remove the carrier for the roof seal but there is a thin seal between the carrier and the sheet metal. Maybe you can check the A-pillar angle from door to A-pillar?

Thanks a lot.

//Jesper

Thanks for the drawing Udo. My window and quarter window matches your drawings.... I also checked the B-pillar opening towards the body drawing and the measure was ok. So I still don't know the source to this issue Sad

I did two more rough measures (bad phone pics):

Angle between A-pillar and waist line: approx 51 degrees.

Height from outer edge of sill plate to roof line in the middle of window roof line is approx 930 mm.

How is your door gap? Is it even, or is the back gap larger at the bottom than it is at the top? Only asking because some body adjustments can affect the window fitment. On mine, the body rear needs to be shimmed upwards and the window does not seal completely at the top front (opposite of yours). It's minor on mine and you can't see it unless you look hard, but the windows whistle on the freeway.
