I have some sad news to report today. We lost a Shasta legend in the passing of Buster "The Bussit Hound"
Buster made it on 6 Mt Shasta Snow trips and brought lots of smiles to all.
Here is one great pic from Jeremy of Buster at the wrench fest at Erik's shop.
Rest In Peace Buster.

Really sorry to hear about Buster, Lou. He was a great dog. His rogue explorer spirit -- prompting midnight Buster hunts -- really embodied the spirit of the SST. He will be sorely missed. _________________ AKA: Riviera Adam

Anybody here seen this?
www.mayarally.com

The MAYA RALLY is a multi-week, multi-national, expedition scavenger hunt and challenge course. It pits teams of overland drivers in their own vehicles against one another and the elements, traverses thousands of miles of variable and unknown terrain, enters rarely-seen locations far off the beaten track, and spans countless foreign horizons.
The MAYA RALLY is an overland adventure distilled to its most raw form: there is a start, there are designated challenges which must be completed for points, and there is a finish. Everything else is up to you.
There is no route. There is no support. There are few rules.
If you break your will, if you break your body, or if you break your ride, you are on your own.
At a remote point deep in the forests of Latin America, at the farthest reaches of your long and perilous journey, you will be received by an End of the World celebration in your honor, and if you win, recognized with a healthy reward. That is, if you make it. |
There is both a vintage class and a 2wd class. It's essentially a scavenger hunt -- looks like it starts at the Expedition Portal offices in Arizona and heads down through Mexico, Central America and finally South America.
Anybody potentially interested in a Split Bus Team? It's mostly a pipe dream for me, but if the right people, the right Bus and the right circumstances came together it could be doable. A bone stock panel or single cab would probably be best suited for this. _________________ AKA: Riviera Adam

Pipe dream or not, it's fun to sit and daydream about!
The site's cool and it looks like one helluva trip!
Texting with Adam today, we agreed that a double cab or walk thru panel would be idea with a stock 1600 motor for ease of finding replacement parts.
Then maybe get some massive lamps like what Damon has on his bus! _________________ 1967 Riviera Camper

Oh sure! Just when I started to return Bosco to his semi-retired-from-Shasta-mild-mannered-microbus status, you throw this up! Sheesh.
Oh well, at least I speak high school Spanish, am well armed, and unafraid of snakes and Drug Cartels. Now all I need is a great gob of money.
Mostly to pay ransoms and bribes, I suspect.
Buena Suerte!

I'm thinking by the time you get the ass end parked at the Rampaging Spot, the front end will already be in Shasta.
