| Hey guys, so I'm getting ready to order the adapter plate from Kennedy. Did you guys that are running the Eco swap do different clutches or anything?? Just curious if you guys recommend anything special?? |

I used their Stage 1 pressure plate and organic clutch. It seems to be working fine so far. I have a stock type 1 tranny and it is my daily driver, so I don't want the clutch to be too aggressive.

| So im looking at about $600 at the end of it? Obviously I need the adapter plate w/ flywheel $465 + pressure plate $99 +clutch ~ $40?? |

Heres how I did it.
Adapter from Phil's Bug Shack in northern Kentucky $250
(military discount  )
New stock clutch disk $18
2100lbs empi pressure plate $70
Have 8500 miles on it with few problems. Clutch slipped a little at WOT in first and second for the first week or so but since has held the power perfectly. Just get new flanged head 10.9 bolts from fastenal ($24) and remember to use the correct sealant on the flywheel bolts or you will be leaking oil. |

| Do you know what the plate runs without military discount lol? And I'm assuming that's just the plate, no flywheel? |

| 250 was for the machined aluminum alloy plate with threaded inserts, modified 200mm flywheel, and hardware. I said to get the flanged hardware from fastenal because I had stretched the bolts provided in the kit. Call them and see. I got a discount not only because I was military but drove to his shop and dealt with the owner face to face and handed him cash. I would do it again if I had to. |

Just a wild question but can you use your existing Pressure Plate and Clutch Disc or do you have to get new ones?
You see I have a good 2400 Pound Pressure Plate and a Berg 3 puck disc. |

Kennedy hooked me up with the adapter, flywheel, 2 stage pressure plate and 6 puck clutch. They were quick turn around (3 weeks) and fit like a glove.
That 2 stage is stiff, but i'll tell you something. When you dump the clutch, there is no slip. You just grab the steering wheel and hang on  I'm also using a hydraulic clutch setup.
Quote: 25% more torque can be transmitted if a metallic (6 pad) disc is used. It is not recommended for street use due to harsh engagement.

Works good in well hopped up VW sand buggies and most other competition VW uses where the driver is determined to either win or break. |

As long as it matches your flywheel you're fine.
The first adapter I bought was for a bug flywheel. The second was for a bus flywheel since it went into our bay window bus with a stock 6 rib.
Both were used with the old clutch pressure plates (they were in good shape).
The bus doesn't slip at all. Granted I don't beat on it, but the bus weighs 3500 lbs.
