I can't take any credit for this phase of the project. This is all the work of my friend John at Aircooled Classics here in Saskatoon. All I did was drop off the car, visit and take some pictures. I guess I did sand a bit in the door jambs, but this is all John's work THANKS JOHN

It's darker than it looks in the pix. I just picked the colour from chips. Don't know what it's originally for.

The interior, cage, under hood and engine compartment are done. Tomorrow will have the rest of the car in colour.

Huge thanks to Todd Penn at Aircooled Classics for paint and his brother John for the body work. It would have taken me a month to pull off what they did in 9 days. And, it wouldn't have look any where close to as good as this.

It's looking great! I'm anxious to see the finished product fully assembled and your name in the record books!

Me too!!!!

Although, I know I'm hopelssly outclassed with the Lake Havasu boys showing up with a truck load of Geoff Hart racing engines. A record isn't my absolute goal for this car. I want to see how fast I can make a car that I built run with my own motor. Please don't interpit this as petty jealousy, I wish I had someone with such engine building experience and I'm happier than hell for the LH boys having a bunch of support and will be cheering them on. For me it's a totally personal program about what I can do. If my name goes into a book somewhere, that's just icing on the cake......I like icing Laughing

Todd's been busy with spring service work and the weather isn't cooperating to finish painting. It's -5C today and snowing Confused So I spent a few hours down at the shop working on the new motor. Buttoned up the long block and got the oil lines on.

HEY, be nice, I still got 4 months to get down to race weight Wink Besides pictures and my overalls add 40lbs Laughing Now you know why I'm trying to get myself lower in the buggy........

One more barrel and piston to go measure and clean and I can put the top end together. I think I'll call this motor "Beastly"

Hey Brad I just read all 5 pages. Excellent build. Nice Army Jeep ya got there. Razz Honestly I can't wait to see the Canadians this year on the Salt. That Buggy will fly with the new and improved engine. I'm still running last years engine, not enough $$ in the kitty for a new one. I hope to go get the Ghia in 6 weeks and get to chassis set up and paint. You have really done a great job on the Oval. Would it be worth my while to get a quote for some skinny 4x130 wheels from you? Something in the 3" range?

Thanks Britt, it's been a lot of fun and after 25 years i'm finally geting the Beetle I always wanted. I'm hoping the new mill will do the job this year in the buggy, then try it in this creation and compare the 2 motors. As far as wheels, I can see what Gordon can come up with, but to be honest he'd probably have to order something from your neck of the woods. I got to call him this week and I'll see, we were schemeing on some factory wheels he was going to redrill the bolt patterns in. I think they were 15x4 or 15x3.5. I'll shoot you a PM if we got anything that'll work for ya.

Went and saw the car tonight. the paint's still wet and the flourecent lights make it look limey, but thanks to John and Todd, it looks better than it ever should have. A sincere THANKS to my friends at Aircooled Classics here in Saskatoon.

Here she is reunited with the original pan one last time so it's mobile
