|
|
I have 6" fuchs fitted to our 1303, but have to run 10mm spacers on teh rears so that the axlenut doesn't foul the centrecap. I'd like to ditch the spacers, so am wondering what my options are.
I know that I can get the hub snout machines and the stub axle re threaded, however this seems quite a big job.
Wondering of theres anyone out there that has come up with a simpler option? Perhaps a spacer for between the rim and the center cap?
Not having much luck with this and may have to go for the nasty looking deep centre cap made by CSP.
Thanks for your advice. _________________ MonkeyDubs!

I shortened the snout of the drive flange. Not a big job, especially since you have to give them to a machinist to do the P5 bolt pattern to start.
Then I shortened the splines a couple of mm on the stub axle. To avoid threading deeper, I just undercut the shaft.
Then I cut the end of the stub axle off to within 2 mm of the hole for the cotter pin.
That was all done 20 years ago, so it turned out to be reliable. _________________

I had a local machine shop make spacers with set screws. He made them for $60. They seemed to stick out a bit but now I don't even notice them. |

This is what I'd really like to get done. It's a shame no one sells them off the shelf.. _________________ MonkeyDubs!
