I just received the illlustration below from a fellow in Georgia, Hank Young, who plans on joining us in the 36hp Challenge with a 36hp bellytank at Bonneville in 2013.
Hank operates a custom bike/hot rod/Volks Rod shop in Marietta ( see http://youngchoppers.com ). You can see the Volks Rod currently under construction on the link. He will be constructing a traditional bellytank/lakester utilizing a Ford front axle much like Dick Beiths 1963 racer with 36hp power.
Enjoy the artwork. And Ronnie, looks like you are going to have to add a tow hitch to your DSS single cab record holder!

Tip for Burly:
We need a 36HP Challenge award for STYLE, after seeing this. What a neat combination!

Best get the wallet out Scot. Todd Penn did 1700 miles from Saskatoon up near you to the salt, 1700 miles in two days, swapped his 1600 SP in his single cab for a SS36, set a new SS36 Bus record of 56.233 mph, swapped back to the 1600 and drove home(another 1700 miles) in just over a day. With a slipping clutch! ! ! And not slammed but on tall and tight RGB's..................
Here's Walt sending Todd down the long black line!
And he plans on returning this year will a DSS36 engine as well as a refined SS36 engine. I think we will see at least three SC's racing in 2012!
Gonna be fun........................

Dropgate, "With a slipping clutch! ! ! And not slammed but on tall and tight RGB's.................." as noted!
Personnally, I think RGB's should add an extra degree of award, say, desert!
By your handle you speak from experience. Slammed or RGB's, which would prefer?

Thanks for the kind words Burly. And yes It wasnt a slammed truck ,I would do it in one as long as its properly lowered.I also had the enjoyment of at least 700lbs of engines, tools, and crap to smooth out that smooth factory ride. This year Im not leaving home without Two im portant things .a pair of earplugs( as I was damn near deaf on arivall )and a Kidney Belt. Ha Ha . Seriously- Im looking Forward to it,Its a great drive! _________________ 2010 Bonneville record holder Type 2, 36hp

Todd, you da man. I was sacked after that drive in my nice comfy Collorado with a nice nights sleep half way through. Doing it non-stop in your truck, I'd be dead Can hardly wait to do it all again this year.
