My '72 has been running rough so I pulled one of the plugs. It was covered with dry, black accumulation. I changed the plugs recently.

I believe that I have my carburetor adjusted properly. Timing is good. Choke is adjusted for warmer weather.

Any thoughts on what's wrong?

That ususally indicates it's running way too rich. If it was oily and black, then that would indicate oil control problems, but since it's dry...

Have a look at the choke. If the wire has fallen off,or the coil is burned out,or if it's just plain stuck/out of adjustment it's gonna run rich.
