I hate my projects right now too. My back is killing me. Why did I wait until the body was painted, headlinder and glass was in, and most of the lights on before I decided to separate the two? Four people was not enough for this. |

I hate to sound like Mike Fisher, but why didn't you get and use an overhead chain hoist from Harbor Freight? They're well worth the $60 (give or take). I use a couple tow straps with hooks to the bumper mounts with the hoist. Makes it easy as pie. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

My modest garage wouldn't allow for the hoist. I looked at them while at HF buying these cheesy-ass casters. |

They have gantry cranes as well but they're not too convenient in a standard home garage. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

I was wondering how many people you had...the body without anything on it isn't too bad. Just the addition of glass turns it into a 3-4 man job.
Nice to see a Notch getting some attention instead of all of the Fastbacks! _________________ http://restoringferris.blogspot.com/

OH! This is so cool! I've never seen a Notch in person. Maybe some day. What a cool car. |

No disrespect meant but Fastbacks aren't my cup of tea. Glad to add some variety to the forums
I am 6'4" 250, and the three guys helping me are all pretty burly as well but this body made sure we ate our Wheaties.
I am getting the pan broken down tonight. |

Now if some of us Squareback owners would *ahem* finish our restorations, the balance would be restored...nice looking car-once that pan is done, it's going to be a completely awesome car! _________________ http://restoringferris.blogspot.com/

Yup, I do most of the body lifting/seperating by myself. When you get older, you learn to work smarter, not harder. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I cleaned up a bunch of motor parts and want to paint them. Which colors best replicate the original? I tried 'search' to no avail.
Which gray?
Which black for the tins?
Thanks. |

I don't know if this helps but here's an NOS one:
It's grey primer so if someone knows of a spray-can grey primer that matches, I'm interested in knowing as well. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

"Ford gray" engine enamel is pretty close in color but it's glossy and it will burn off quickly on exhaust parts. The closest exhaust paint I've found is Zynolyte Hi-Temp 0642 Machinery Gray. It's whiter than the original coating but not too far off. _________________ 5/62 343

I think this nice Dealer installed roof rack was installed backwards? The wider end is to the rear and it's crosspiece is bowed up off the roof!

It's getting to be Spring here. So I spent 5 hours sandblasting my wheels in preparation for painting them.
