VW to Ford adapters USED to exist. Haven't seen new ones in a while but I do see them pop up in the classifieds.

When I was hot to use my Ford rims and had a few sets of adapters that were billed as VW 4 to Ford 5 only to find they didn't work. I did spend some time calling places...best explanation I got was that two of the studs are too close to make it work...when I compared my 4 lug VW to the pattern in my 1980's Ford rims I found that could be the case.

As a previous poster noted - Ford might've changed their patterns a few times - perhaps I just have the bad pattern:

It's a little tricky, but I've used one of these I have for my trailers on my bugs. It only weighs a couple pounds and doesn't take up much space. beats a shut out. I still prefer a plug kit and a decent compressor which lets you play with air pressures in the sand anyway.

I've considered adding a set of these to my '71 SB convertible for my son or installing a set on an early '60's Beetle with gray painted body & satin finish on rims...

Just wanted to put this out there that I have 7 of these rims currently for sale. Bought them to put them on my lowered bug but bought a split window bus and its keeping its stock rims and the bug will be sold once its on the road. Just selling these to finance the restoration.

Just an FYI if anyone is interested in picking up a set.

Since most of my buggy mileage is off-pavement, I carry a 135 x 15 spare tire mounted on a stock VW wide five wheel. I've used it twice and loaned it twice. If my unrepairable flat is on the back, I move a front tire to the back and put the spare on the front. The front tires are 205 75 x 15. I carry a small sissors jack, a Gorilla Wrench, air pump and tire plugs. This may not be necessary for your buggy use but it works for me.
